Advantages: One of the best albums of it's era. Disadvantages: Long complexed songs put some people off and the production is not amazing.
...this isn't catchy guitar hooks and sing-a-long choruses.
This is one for eshablished Metallica fans only I'd say. If you haven't listened to much Metallica this is probably not a good place to start; however if you like Metallica's earlier album such as 'Kill 'em All' and 'Master Of Puppets' you will more than likely enjoy this.
The tracks that really stand out to me are 'Blackened', '...And Justice For All' and 'One'. 'One' is the most famous ... ...his senses during a war and now is trapped unable to communicate with the world. Saying that's the most popular track should give you an idea of what this album is like!
Many people have said that the guitars and too buzzy and thin on this album and the drums are too hollow and clicky. Although this is true at times you have to remember the era this album was made in. A time when most metal bands were producing buzzy guitars and clicky drums. This ...
Advantages: Very deep lyrics Disadvantages: Last album with Cliff Burton
The album Master of Puppets is the third studio album by America’s highest selling Metal band. It was released March 3rd 1986 and has since sold over 6 million copies in the USA alone. It is also the last album to be recorded with bassist Cliff Burton before a fatal bus accident while touring for the album. The album is considered one of the greatest thrash metal albums of all time and is considered a classic by critics and the band alike. The songs ... ...stick in your head. Master of Puppets- 8:35 This track opens with an amazingly raw riff that instantly allows you to get into the song. The lyrics talk about drugs taking over the mind though is often mistaken to be a story of slavery or something along those lines but either way they really show how creative the band has become because this 8 minute long song is full of melodies, different verses and tonnes of solos. Master of Puppets is often ...
Advantages: Amazing riffs, solos and the band has matured alot since last album. Disadvantages: None
Ride the Lightning is the second studio album released my heavy metal/ thrash giants Metallica. Released July 27th 1984 and has since sold over 5 million copies in the USA alone. The album was released a year after Kill ‘em all (Metallica’s debut album) and in such a short time you can really tell how much the band has matured from ruthless teenagers to more deep musicians. The album deals with what some people would call stereotypical metal themes ... ...little bit more strong. Ride the Lightning- 6:38 A personal favourite of mine with probably one of the most addictive tunes you’ll ever hear. Ride the lightning brings us a story about capital punishment and the thoughts that go through some one’s head as they are awaiting their fate, really deep stuff. Again the lyrics here coupled with the riff make this song incredibly immense. If there is a song on this album that you’re going to listen to it ...
Advantages: Quite different and much better than the previous few Black Sabbath albums with Ozzy Disadvantages: None
Blizzard of Ozz was Ozzy Osbourne's first album following his split from Black Sabbath. Following being sacked from Black Sabbath, Ozzy was in a mess, living in a hotel and trying to drink and snort himself in to oblivion - Sharon Osbourne who would eventually become his wife, decided to get him back on track and from the brink of destruction, the depressive Ozzy got his stuff together and recorded this rather enjoyable album.
A great helping hand ... ...the guitar playing of the band. The only thing that this album really has in common with his earlier work of Black Sabbath is Ozzy's voice, although it does tend to stay in the top rangeof his voice for much of it. The themes are quite different with a lot less of a satanic outlook and a more moody sound, the music is gentle and melodic interspersed with amazing guitar solos.
The album has over the years caused quite a bit of controversy with several ...
Advantages: Pretty much created thrash metal Disadvantages: The band is very inexperienced
...as the song that made Kill ‘em all. Lyrically this is in my eyes, not very good. Instrumentally though, I think this song has an amazing tune, an awesome solo and a brilliantly fast tempo. Hit the lights is a great opening song for the album but it’s probably for this, the album didn’t sell to well, bearing in mind this genre of music had never been heard before. A great song to listen and though the lyrics do not capture Hetfield at his best, they ... ... A personal favourite of mine, originally written by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth but due to tension in the band, Mustaine left. So the band changed the song which was called The Mechanix to The four horsemen, they then changed the lyrics and Kirk Hammett added a guitar solo in the middle and its this guitar solo that I think makes this song. It just jumps at you, it doesn’t come at a normal point in the song, it just hits you and it’s this effect that ...
