Beware of the Night
Advantages: hree great speed metal songs and a nice gloomy ballad. Disadvantages: Surprisingly unoriginal, and too short.
The first release of Washington progressive metal pioneers Queensr˙che fails to predict the innovative style the band would later be associated with, similar to how the first album of their genre contemporaries Dream Theater sounds like just another inferior clone of Rush. This self-titled E.P., originally of four tracks but later amended to five, is considered by many to be the band's most consistent work, despite being entirely derivative of the ... ...prog rock and glam influences that would later define the band's most commercially successful period, the songs on this 1983 release can be very easily attributed to the two English leaders of the afore-mentioned movement; to apply a rough and admittedly crude formula, tracks one and four are very similar to Iron Maiden, while the middle two sound a lot like Judas Priest. Then again, even at this early stage the band chooses to spell its name with ...

Revolution Calling
Advantages: Excellent score and lyrics, engrossing storyline Disadvantages: can be difficult to follow, some of the track switchovers change pace a little too quickly
Ok, I'll admit it, I'd never heard of this group before someone mentioned to me that I shared my name with one of their guitarists ....... and he loaned me this album to prove it to me.
As soon as I put it on my record deck (yes, I still have it on vinyl, even better I was lucky enough to pick up the 10" promo single to it too, a bit of a rarity or so I'm told) and heard the first 'track' if you can call it that, I knew that this was going to be ... ...with the ominous words "I remember now, I remember how it started, I don't remember yesterday, I just remember doing ..... what they told me", and then bursts into the album proper.
The usual concept album leaves a lot to be desired in the way the story runs, leaving logical parts out, or bursting in with an instrumental piece where you lose the plotline ..... and by the time you have regained it, it bears no resemblance to the story you remember ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

My favourite album
Advantages: Unique and Brilliant consistancey of good tracks Disadvantages: Old fashion looking album design
Normally im into Children of Bodom, Slipknot, BFMV and alot more of the screamo bands. But the Avenged Sevefold have a truly unique style, the vocalist is amazing. I bought this album, and loved it. I think the best on the album is The beast and the harlot. I truly love this band and cannot wait until their next tour. The consistancy of the tracks is also very good with tracks like afterlife, bat country, Blinded in chains, MIA and gunslinger deserving ...
