Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

Morbid Angel - Domination, of death metal.
Advantages: One of the best Morbid Angel albums to date Disadvantages: If your into death metal, there are none.
What can I say about this album. Well, to start this is from the era when Morbid Angel were one of the gods of death metal and pretty much lead the entire genre with each release. This album is from that era and as such, is a pretty much required ownership. The music production is distinct of that time in music, so plenty of space for the music to fully come out with no over the top compression. All the musicians are on top form, each part sounds ... ...point out some stand out tracks, but they are all pretty much awesome, but if I had to pick it would be Where the Slime Live, which is a pounding almost groove affair that has the guitars practically hitting nothing but “the prefect set of notes”. One thing I would say is if your not used to music from that time in music, you may notice the album is in fact a little quieter than todays albums. Its not a problem at all, just a by product of the techniques ...

Stranger in Us All.
Advantages: Superb incorporation of classical scales into Rock, great riffs and leads. Disadvantages: Rainbow's last album
Ritchie Blackmore, (creator of one of the most famous rock riffs - Smoke on the Water) after shuttling between Deep Purple (1965 - 1974, 1984 - 1994) and Rainbow (1975-1984,1994-1997) came up with this brilliant Album during his second stint with Rainbow, featuring vocalist Doogie White of Scottish Origin.
Blackmore uses a scalloped fretboard with wood shaved of b/w frets meaning that he plays with a light touch, resulting in a furious pace. This ... ...opener Wolf to the Moon which starts of with a signature fast paced Blackmore Riff. Doogie White, proves that his recruitment by Blackmore into the band is no stroke of luck.
The entire album has ritchie blackmore's classical influence portrayed in great style with some neat riffs. With the album of to a great start with the fast paced Wolf to the Moon, (which would also be a great concert opener), the next song Cold Hearted Woman marks the beginning ...

Metallica "Enter Mainstream"
Advantages: The album with the songs Enter Sandman, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters and oth Disadvantages: If you dont like Heavy, keep away from sensory organs
...material. To remedy this, Metallica hit back with this 1991 self titled release. Hiring legendary Rock producer Bob Rock (who they maintained a working relationship with right up to "St Anger") they clearly had a goal in mind to make every song a potential radio success, whilst maintaining the riff-laden heavyness early fans had become accustomed to. Despite being released at a time when the market was generally considered stale (as the band were ... ...and other "Hair" bands) and the same year as Nirvana's "anti-macho" Nevermind, the album was a monstrous success, and for very good reason. The new arrangements, heightened production value, introduction of ballads, and even singing lessons for the guttural front-man James Hetfield all contributed to one of the most revered albums of the decade. PLAY. THIS. LOUD. ...

Consistent High Energy Album
Advantages: Catchy, High Energy, Poetic Disadvantages: Not the best vocals
...the California based punk legends and will probably always be my favorite Ranicd album. It is consistently catchy and energizing from the first song to the last, and definately contains some of their best hits such as "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho". The lyrics are meaningful and nostalgic, commemorating lost friends, fun times with past band members, and memories of growing up together. Tim Armstrong, the lead singer and main songwriter, shows himself ... ...as "As Wicked" and "Junkie Man" which both tell stories of people living tough lives. While a stunning voice had never been one of Tim's strengths, the catchy chorus lines and poetic lyrics seem to make up for anything lacked in vocals and he still manages to carry a tune. His raspy voice almost seems fitting as he sings of gritty life in the city and the hardships of growing up. In conclusion, if you enjoy good songwriting or are looking for a fun ...
