Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight
Review of Minutes To Midnight (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Linkin Park by GerlofL

Advantages: The title of the album rocks, This terrible sellout lasts 'only' 43 minutes.
Disadvantages: It lasts !!43!! Minutes, every song is horrible, theire new logo sucks too.

...the ?Ballad? They made is truely to get sick of. He has the voice of a screamer, so he should not sing something deep on a slow pace, it is disgusting to hear. - 'Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight' is officially the biggest sell out and dissapointment of 2007. ... Read review

A varied walk in the Park.
Review of Minutes To Midnight (Limited Edition/Parental Advisory) [Digipak] [PA] - Linkin Park by paulhanton

Advantages: Some very strong tracks.
Disadvantages: Somehow a bit unfulfilling.

Okay, I am not a Linkin Park fan, in fact I have never really liked them, so when my 13 year old said he wanted the new CD I thought I would buy it and then, for conversations sake, listen to it.....well, it was in my car for the last 3 weeks, and now he finally has it. I am not sure if Linkin Park are American punk, post punk, mosh rock, or a mixture of all, what I do know is that this is, in my opinion, a very strong album. The first track, "Wake" ...
...to what one would expect at the end of a rock opera, or a performance artist, trapeze etc, finishing their act, seemed like a bit of a strange opener, but not unpleasant. "Given Up" - very 'moshy' quite fast, gets the foot tapping if driving, and at home when noone was looking, I did have a bit of a 'fling myself about' moment, like this track a lot. "Leave Out All The Rest" - Powerful, slower than the previous track, excellent lyrics, for me has ... Read review

The Rare, The Raw, The BEST!
Review of Rare The Raw And The Rest, The - Thunder by Soho_Black

Advantages: A great album and great value to boot
Disadvantages: Why have "the rest" when "the rare" and "the raw" are so good?

...put out a collection of rare material. It’s not a greatest hits, as there aren’t often any hits on there. Although some of the material may have already appeared in other countries, or hidden away on the B-Sides of singles, the album-focussed UK public will probably not own them. Both Anthrax (“Attack of the Killer B’s”) and Def Leppard (“Retroactive”) used this idea in 1994. Giving new insights into the bands concerned and, in Def Leppard’s case, ...
...hoping there will be more rare and raw to follow. It's quite a heavy track by Thunder's standards; definitely more towards the more rock end of the pop-rock spectrum, with a heavy blues feel to it and Danny stretching his vocals to the limit. The backing vocals sound a little better this time around, too! Things get a lot rawer and a lot rarer with the next track, a cover of the Faces classic "Stay With Me". Featuring Andy Taylor, formerly of Duran ... Read review

Great Band
Review of Their Finest Hour (And A Bit) - Thunder by MattAinge

Advantages: Great British Rock
Disadvantages: a Bit dated

I recently saw this band in Bristol on th 29th January and was lucky enough to go to the after show. I met the guys and they are all fantastic people. This album shows some of there best work, and i would strongly recommend buying the album. Not only shows of the greatness of the band but, what it does among most things is shows there britishness and there loyalty to staying that way. Lyrically brilliant and great musicians. The bands main downside ... Read review

Slavic Pagan Metal for dinner today
Review of Ot Serdca K Nebu - Arkona by dangaroo

Advantages: Great vocals, great hymn/ethnic chanting sound to it and superb play of wind instruments
Disadvantages: None

Ot Serdca K Nebu is the 4th album by Russian metal band Arkona. It was released by Napalm Records in January 2007. This exquisite example of Folk Metal is as good as they come, Masha on vocals is one of the best female vocalists in metal today and her moving harmonies take you back to a bygone age, the band continue with their pagan, russian folklore and slavic mythology themes and nail it to a Siberian grave with progressive yet dark riffs. Acoustic ...
...the album and while it has a mystical feel to it, much of the album has a jolly feel to it but you can also picture yourself as a rural farmer enjoying the long evenings of a Russian summer, occasionally to be attacked by neighbouring tribes with blasts of black metal. The album is largely instrumental but as previously mentioned vocalist Masha can really be counted on when needed and produces some magical stuff. I'm not a huge fan of flutes but ... Read review
