The Meteors
Review of These Evil Things - Meteors (The) by
sables666
Advantages: Very good for the ears
Disadvantages: crap if your not into Psycobilly
Only been into Psycobilly for a short while, but The Meteors seem to the best about. Past tracks like The wrecking crew will always be an anthem for this type of music. this album is keeping in the style and even a bit more roar. The Meteors are better known for there live act but to keep up with demand they release an album or two over time. and this is deffinatly going to be up there at the top of rockabilly charts if there was such a thing. the ...

The Best of The Guana Batz
Review of Very Best Of Guana Batz, The - Guana Batz (The) by
leopard_gurl
Advantages: This best of comes with two cd's! One disc is live. You get more for your money.
Disadvantages: There arent any!
This album is a must for anyone diving into the big bad world of psychobilly; this album includes an excellent choice of songs by the Guana Batz and includes a live disc which has a few covers by the Stray Cats and Cliff Richard! I urge you to buy this album, as all the songs are solid; this is a real psycho band to get yer teeth into! You get your fast, raging songs with (excellent double bass playing may I add) to your slower, more acoustic rock ... ...hasn't got a bad track and becomes increasingly enjoyable the more you listen. This album cannot fail you, whether you're listening to the live or studio tracks! The live tracks are excellent, fabulous recording, almost better than the studio tracks. There isn't a bad word to say about this album. ...

It's Judas Priest with a twist
Review of Nostradamus - Judas Priest by
BigCS
Advantages: It's different to anything else released by the band, therefore deserves a listen
Disadvantages: maybe alienate a few fans
This is a very difficult album to review for me... the Priest were one of the first metal bands I became a fan of back in my teen days in 1978, so I've been with them every step of the way for the last 30 years now. Over that time they've released several classic albums... Stained Class, Killing Machine, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, Painkiller, and even the last album 'Angel Of Retribution'. They've also stuck out a couple of average albums... ... ...new one... heck, this one had me stumped from the day they announced the concept (what were they thinking of?), until I actually bought it and gave it a few listens.
Based loosely on the life and prophecies of Nostradamus, it's a double CD. A lot of it sounds like your typical Judas Priest material, but a lot of it is far from it. There are many pieces of music that 'link' the main songs, and these contain things you would not normally associate ...

Strapping Young Lad - City! Overrated?
Review of City - Strapping Young Lad by
dangaroo
Advantages: Different
Disadvantages: Too much going on
This is a review of City, the 2nd album of Strapping Young Lad the Canadian Progressive/Extreme metal band. This album is often critically acclaimed as the best work of Strapping Young Lad, to add to that Devin Townsend is often cited as a genius.
Made in 1997, the album should appeal to me but doesn't impress me anyway near as much as it should do, I've tried to get into it several times and the mixture of different styles messes it up a bit for ... ...vocals, some songs on the album like Detox are pretty good but others like Oh My F***ing God just sound like progressive industrial metal with a muffled sound that represents a result similar to a heavier version of what Mike Patton is up to these days (if you've seen it), which is basically just making a racket!
Maybe it's my simple mind but I prefer something more raw than an experimental, over the top concoction of styles. This album does have ...

One of Decapitated's better albums
Review of Negation, The - Decapitated by
dangaroo
Advantages: Hard, quick, fast and some great guitar solos
Disadvantages: A few not so good tracks
The Negation is Decapitated's 3rd album and was released in 2004 by Wicked World Records. It's one of their best albums in my eyes although it still has some weak points.
The band's line-up was
Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka - Guitar
Marcin "Martin" Rygiel - Bass
Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka - Drums (RIP)
Wojciech "Sauron" Wąsowicz - Vocals
1 - The Fury - Literally what you'd expect from a song called this, deep growling vocals, incredibly ... ...of the symbols so hard, you'd think they'd fall off.
2 - Three Dimensional Effect - Machine gun metal guitar playing with a crazy solo that sounds like Joe Satriani in the middle of a war! Vocals are Napalm Deathesque
3 - Lying and Weak - Back to a more rational guitar sound, the same vocals as the previous track, the track seems to speed up throughout, it's not that memorable though.
4 - Sensual Sickness - Fast and brutal, the guitar is insanely ...
