Follow me or die...
Advantages: 80's thrash at it's best Disadvantages: production
...especially for future albums.
AMONG THE LIVING, signalled Anthrax's departure from being an underground cult metal band on an independent label, to semi-mainstream metal, newly signed with ISLAND RECORDS.
And whilst the slightly politically incorrect lyrics of the former album's classic 'Madhouse' were not carried on with this release, the band, to it's credit, maintained it's integrity by producing an album of exactly what they wanted to do - ... ...it all - Speed and thrashing guitars on "Imitation of life" and "Caught in a mosh", combined with socially aware and political comment, on tracks like, "Indians", "Skeletons in the Closet", and "One World"
Not to be known as an 'un-fun' band though, their humour shows through with the 2000AD inspired "I AM THE LAW", (which along with Indians, were released as singles). The title track, is also inspired by the classic Steven King book 'THE STAND".

I Wanna Destroy the Passerby
Advantages: Punk roots still hold their own. Disadvantages: Lacks any kind of originality or self-worth.
The most recent album from New York hardcore punks Agnostic Front continues to mix angry punk rock with shouty hardcore, and as but one of a seemingly endless number of similar-sounding albums having been released every year for the last couple of decades, it brings nothing new to the scene apart from some new material of Agnostic Front sounding like themselves. The whole album is based on fast, riff-heavy songs with multiple, moshable 'breakdowns' ... ...bass drums in a clicking frenzy that again permits the drummer to avoid having to put any thought into what he's doing. But of course, this is still punk first and foremost; a genre that has no delusions of Rimsky-Korsakov.
All the same, I found 'Warriors' to be a largely disappointing, or at best entirely bland experience, lacking the intensity that I can just about stomach from their contemporaries such as Sick of it All, and still apparently ...

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
Advantages: Fantstic guitars , great vocals , everything fits together Disadvantages: some songs are repetive , too long and out of place
...mainstream metal breakthrough.
Personally doomsday machine is my favourite arch enemy album, it gets the balance right between power and creativity and doesn't bore the listener. Some of the riffs on this album are fantastic and very original, the solos are very good, and the first time I heard the vocals I could not believe such a sound could come from a woman!
Needless to say I was very impressed with this album, after listening to wages of sin, ... ...peak of Arch Enemy's stand out sound.
Stand out tracks (for good an bad reasons)
Nemesis: this song had a video made for it and quite rightly so. The whole song is a fast paced attack on the senses and is generally a favoured track from this band; it's like the "battery" of Arch Enemy, for the metallica fans that read this review.
Carry the cross: personally I feel this is quite an underrated song with metal fans, the song has a steady pace is ...

Pretentious Arty Rubbish
Advantages: Some good melodical riffs Disadvantages: Too wet
Silent Waters is the most recent album by Finnish melodic metal band Amorphis. The album was released at the beginning of 2007 on Nuclear Blast, it features a moon lit album cover with a distinctive red swan. The album was largely touted as their "back to their best" album. Not being familiar with any of Amorphis' previous work this didn't really effect me much anyway.
With crispy guitar solos and sparkling clear vocals, this should have been rather ... ...the realms of artistic mediocrity - I'd steer clear of this one.

2. A Servant
3. Silent Waters
4. Towards and Against
5. I of Crimson Blood
6. Her Alone

Great and inspirational album for all metalheads
Advantages: Inspirational for metalheads, great vocals, great lyrics, etc Disadvantages: none
The First time I was introduced to Arch Enemy was on the television show Uranium on Fuse, back when Metal Mistress Juliya was there, and they seemed to somewhat care about heavy metal. Juliya was doing a feature on different women in metal and the present lead singer for the death metal band Arch Enemy, Angela Gossow was one of the people interviewed. I also got the chance to hear the song "We Will Rise".
The song We will Rise is very motivational ... ...itself. The meaning is quite self explanatory. It's about metalheads rising about mainstream music such as pop, rap, hip hop and so on. Other popular songs on the album are Leader of the Rats and Dead Eyes See no Future. I strongly recommend metalhead to listen to those two. TRACK LIST:
1. "Tear Down the Walls (Intro)" 2. "Silent Wars" 3. "We Will Rise" 4. "Dead Eyes See No Future" 5. "Instinct" 6. "Leader of the Rats"
7. "Exist to Exit" 8. "Marching ...
