I can't believe I'm the first
Advantages: Iconic, pioneering, and just plain good Disadvantages: Drum solo
...powerful sound.
2. Paranoid - do I have to tell you? I suppose they picked this one to release as a single as it's the right length and the most 'poppy'.
3. Planet Caravan - slow, wistful, melancholic, eerie, haunting, spacey, ethereal, poetic. A polished, shivers-down-the-spine track featuring understated jazzy guitar, proving that they can turn the volume down and still produce something distinctive and good.
4. Iron Man - grungy, daft, sci-fi ... ...by teenage boys of all ages.
5. Electric Funeral - Starts as pure grunge, speeds up, then goes grungy again. A short track with apocalyptic lyrics.
6. Hand of Doom - Slow, sinister, again with a fast bit in the middle. This appears to be an ANTI-drugs song. Did Ozzy heed his own warnings? (Well, he is still alive...)
7. Rat Salad - instrumental. A bit jazzy. The one with the drum solo, and mercifully short. I mean, I'm not completely against drum ...

Masters of Metal
Advantages: Superb album all round, with Sweet Leaf on it. Disadvantages: Um...it's another album which you HAVE to shell out on.
Masters of Reality is considered by some to Black Sabbath’s finest album, and it’s a damn fine piece of music even if I, a certified Sabbath nut, do say so. This really saw Black Sabbath breaking away from their blues roots and travelling down the heavier, more evil path that the dark nature of the music seemed to demand. Also, the increasing drug consumption of the band started to show on the more, unusual and experimental tracks which ... ...evident on the majority of the tracks, but this doesn’t detract from the excellent nature of the music. All of the vital ingredients remain in place – Tony Iommi’s gut wrenching tombstone guitar tone is still more than evident on tracks like Children of the Grave, as is his talent in writing some of the greatest riffs ever to blast forth from a stereo. The softening of the drum sound on tracks like After Forever adds a new level ...

A change will do you good
Advantages: Nice new sound, very catchy Disadvantages: None
Heaven and Hell is the first Black Sabbath album after the departure of Ozzy Osbourne, the album was their 9th album. The change in personnel gave both Ozzy himself and Black Sabbath a new release of life, following some rather uneventful albums. Black Sabbath's improvement was short-lived but centered much around new singer Ronny James Dio who gave the band a new sound.
Black Sabbath have a very wholesome sound on the tracks on this album. Lady ... ...of the band's best albums to date and definitely my favourite after the initial period of success the band had around 1970.

2. Children Of The Sea
3. Lady Evil
4. Heaven And Hell

It's Time To Turn The Tide...
Advantages: Awesome recording with perfect blend of songs and flawless result Disadvantages: Couple of tracks that are difficult to get used to
...vocals (highly evident in The Empire Strikes First) and an original approach to punk rock (the intervention of guitar performances or 'solos' proves that punk-rock doesn't just consist of power chords and similar riffs that everyone has heard before).
The Empire Strikes First precedes the latest Bad Religion album, The Process Of Belief. Bad Religion took a step in the direction of harmonising and produced an album that really tested the extent ... ...the release of:
The Empire Strikes First.
Well, I was going to go straight into the track listing, but then I realised how much I love the album title! 'The Empire Strikes First', a parody of the 'Empire Strikes Back', the fifth Star Wars film. This clever title is an obvious reference to the oppression of the U.S.A (or anything corporate for that matter) and how the public really has no chance to act on or influence a governments' decision. Very ...
