Yet another groundbreaking powerhouse recording featuring some excellent guitar work. This includes great classics like Tomorrow's Dream, Changes, Supernaut, ... ...must have addition to any Black Sabbath collection released: early september 1972 the album features some of Sabbaths most memorble tracks and sees Sabbath beginning to experiment successfully with new textures such as strings, piano, orchestration and multi-part songs.. Yet the classic Sabbath sound is still very much in evidence While not being Sabbaths best work its jam packed with memorable riffs which made Black Sabbath one of the greatest heavy ...

Welsh Metal? With Ragga??
Advantages: A few bangers Disadvantages: Inconsistent
Released in 2002, “Babylon” was the debut album from the Welsh ‘Ragga Metal’ band which as their coined term suggests, has them bringing together what is essentially Nu-Metal, but twisting the Hip Hop elements to fit more in-line with Dancehall and Ragga-styled toasting. The band consists of former members of Dub War, really the first act performing in such a style with such a large range of musical influences. 1. “Set It Off” They kick things off ... ...hardcore mix of what they are most well-known for with a track that supports all their styles extremely well and with a raw, and explosive burst of energy that includes all that’s already been mentioned, in addition to a little Drum and Bass in order to support the Ragga end of things and to show how gat they wish to take it as they come through with such innovative material. **Five Stars** 2. “Kiss And Make Up” It appears that they don’t wish to ...

Rifftastically heavy!
Advantages: 8/10 hardcore thumping tracks Disadvantages: Hmmm, tracks 3 and 4!
...interestingly entitled Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath, supposedly called so because the initial title, Snowblind, is the name of track 6 of the album which is all about cocaine and thus had to be changed! A common thing for Sabbath after album 2, due to be called War Pigs was changed to Paranoid (hence non-sensical album cover) due to sensitivites over the on-going Vietnam war.
Anyway, Vol. 4 is a collection of great tracks bar the usual Iommi fiddling ... ...acousticish version with his band Black Label Society.
7 - Cornucopia - very heavy track that whizzes along at breakneck speed leading to a strong contrast to track 8...
8 - Laguna sunrise - a couple of miuntes of tranquil guitar playing, beatiful song, no lyrics.
9 - St. Vitus dance - heavy riff-laden song about guy splitting with girl when perhaps he shouldn't, great cover by Cathedral a while back incidently.
10 - Under the sun (also known ...

Black Sabbath; the original heavy metal album.
Advantages: Just a great revolutionary album. Disadvantages: There aren't any proper ones.
...slap really. 1 - Black Sabbath: We begin in a rainy graveyard type place... This sets the scene of what's to come. Unexpectedly (but very fittingly) the first riff is very very slow, but probably the heaviest thing ever heard at the time it was released. We hear Ozzy's voice slow and chillingly start to narrate a story. This goes on for some time and get's us set up for the album. Half way through the song there is a sudden tempo change and things ... ...walking by. As always for Black Sabbath, great riffs. This would make it onto my top 10 Black Sabbath songs too probably, and it also must receive a 10/10. 3 - Behind the Wall of Sleep: Not quite as classic as the first two songs, but still a very good song. It's nice to mix things up and have some variation, so this song is slightly more chirpy. I always see it as a heavier interpretation of what was already on the scene at the time. Very good song, ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
