Advantages: Something new and different. Harder and more openly brutal sound Disadvantages: Somewhat crude and unrefined
...they will not be disappointed. Thornography has a tendency to sound less refined as their previous albums, it lacks finesse. However tracks such as "Rise Of The Pentagram" show what this album is truly about, hard hitting and frontal attacks with the beautiful and tender sounds of traditional classical instruments, although this track has a minimal amount of lyrics it still proves the bands brilliance. To conclude I enjoyed this album but not as ...

Advantages: A bit different Disadvantages: It's an acquired taste to put it mildly
...gives them points for novelty. Ill Innocence is their debut full-length album.
The packaging of the CD- an attractive white and grey, and sophistically understated, is the first hint that Gallhammer have moved on a little from their black-metal roots (which were so evident on their first demo EP) and decided to experiment a little. That this experimentation does not necessarily work particularly well is a different matter- they deserve marks for ... ...the myriad other black metal acts out there (in other words, Animal from the Muppets banging on a biscuit tin, accompanied by the screams of a poodle in a blender).
The first track on the album, At the Onset of the Age of Despair - has a raw, deep sound to it and is surprisingly melodic. It becomes immediately obvious that Gallhammer have evolved a little more into a "doom metal" band rather than "black metal" although they seem to straddle both ...

Advantages: Creates an atmosphere felt with very few albums Disadvantages: You have to be in the right mood to listen to it
Already being the proud owner of five different cradle of filth albums, when my dad decided he disliked "Damnation and a day" i offered him a few quid for it. What i received was my favourite Cradle album. The album creates a huge atmosphere and in depth world. This is mainly done because it features the 40-piece Budapest Film Orchestra and 32-piece Budapest Film Choir.
The concept
The album is in four parts. The first two parts tell of the ... ...about satan's manipulation on Earth. So overall the album is based on the old testament.
The lyrics
The lyrics are some of my favourites. "Angels in raiments, As pure as coal, Taking their payments, In tortured mortal souls" The lyrics arn't for the faint hearted and arn't too popular with Christians but they are intelligent. You cannot base intelligence on opinion.
The tracks
I. Fantasia Down
"A Bruise Upon the Silent Moon" (Intro)

Advantages: Amazing album. It's that simple Disadvantages: None
I bought this with a few other cradle cds and this was the first one i played. The cover attracted me to play it first. What i heard shown me what everyone meant when they said their latest release "Thornography" was nothing compared to their old music.
About the album
This was Cradle's third release and second full length album. It was loosely inspired by the writing of Sheridan Le Fanu and although vampires are not mentioned by name, the ... ..."Humana Inspired to Nightmare" - A great introduction. Put together very well, it creates the atmosphere needed to get into the album.
"Heaven Torn Asunder" - One of the highlights of the album this is a great way to start it. A great guitar riff and tremendous vocals make this what it is
"Funeral in Carpathia" - Kicking in with a blastbeat and an eleven second scream before slowing down to almost spoken lyircs. This song has a bit of everything.

...of the album.
3. Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids - Started with narrative by Ingrid Pitt, this song is another highlight. It has speed and yet doesn't seem rushed. It has it's slower parts and these add emotion to the song.
4. Beneath the Howling Stars - This song feels huge. I don't know what it is but something gives it such an atmosphere. Also features narrative adding to the effect of the song.
5. Venus in Fear - A short but extremely effective ... ...6. Desire in Violent Overture - This song is probably the fastest on the album. Starting with a blastbeat and screeched vocals before cutting to a clean riff and then very short solos. It all falls together so quick but so well.
7. The Twisted Nails of Faith - This song has such an eerie start to it. Creepy music with narrative over the top builds to a climax when it goes a lot quiter before the song cuts in with a roar.
8. Báthory Aria
