One of my favourite cds
Review of Dusk And Her Embrace - Cradle Of Filth by
joe-survey
Advantages: Amazing album. It's that simple
Disadvantages: None
I bought this with a few other cradle cds and this was the first one i played. The cover attracted me to play it first. What i heard shown me what everyone meant when they said their latest release "Thornography" was nothing compared to their old music.
About the album
This was Cradle's third release and second full length album. It was loosely inspired by the writing of Sheridan Le Fanu and although vampires are not mentioned by name, the ... ..."Humana Inspired to Nightmare" - A great introduction. Put together very well, it creates the atmosphere needed to get into the album.
"Heaven Torn Asunder" - One of the highlights of the album this is a great way to start it. A great guitar riff and tremendous vocals make this what it is
"Funeral in Carpathia" - Kicking in with a blastbeat and an eleven second scream before slowing down to almost spoken lyircs. This song has a bit of everything.

dusk, and the album about it
Review of Dusk And Her Embrace - Cradle Of Filth by
kuap
Advantages: The female vocalist in some of the songs
Disadvantages: No songs seem to stand out
This album starts of pretty typical CofF style, with the eerie sounding synth-type thing, closely followed by "Heaven Torn Asunder" which is nicely structured, with the usual pounding drums, and dynamic vocals. No song stands out as particularly bad on this album, but in reply to that, none of the tracks seem outstandingly brilliant. Sure, the guitar work, is technical and sounds pretty impressive, and the songs are well written, but they just don't ... ...because the songs are all pretty long, and the tempo changes often, giving the impression of a different song starting. Saying that, I find "A Gothic Romance" a very impressive song. Also, the choirs in "Dusk And Her Embrace" are a really nice touch. Cradle of Filth defintely have found the formula for their songs, and they don't look like changing it. The seem happy with the way their songs come out, but I find that the songs seem to blend together.. ...

hello destiny - goodbye goldfinger
Review of Hello Destiny - Goldfinger by
techno_man_37
Advantages: a few good songs
Disadvantages: nowhere near as good as their old stuff
Iv always been a fan of goldfinger and it had been a while since the release of a new album prior to this one being released. I had been looking forward to a new album as i really liked their new-ish material and thought that the band were getting better and better.
When this one came out I downloaded it straight away, I had already listened to a few songs they released on myspace before the release and enjoyed these so I was looking forward to ... ...are only a few good songs on their and some that i just cant stand to listen to. A few of the good songs are really good, though it feels a little bit rushed and a bit like all the songs are of different kind of genres.
I put this down to the return of the guitarist who previously left the band as he liked metal music and not punk.
He has seemed to have some influence in some of the songs and I feel has let the band down.
If you did like this ...

Hybrid Theory... Nu Metal Heaven
Review of Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park by
jedsaint
Advantages: Fantastic!
Disadvantages: None spring to mind
Linkin Park's debut album, littered with crunching riffs and memorable lyrics commands the listener to mosh along. There are no other options! There are few words capable of describing this Nu Metallic work of art other than astounding. The other words within my vocabulary that could do the job are unsuitable for minors.
'Hybrid Theory' is such a great album, especially when reflected on today. It was the foundation of a great band's success and ...

You'll fall in love with this album
Review of Art Of Drowning, The - AFI by
Raef86
Advantages: Inventive lyrics, powerful sounds
Disadvantages: No lyrics for the hidden track
This album is possibly the defining moment of AFI's career. They showed that abstract, poetic lyrics CAN be combined with powerful choruses and AFI-trademark chords plus crashing cymbals.
If you're buying this as a surprise present for an 'AFI fan', I suggest you check that they haven't already got it, as most people's love for the band is born out of hearing this album [the CD prior to this - Black Sails In the Sunset - and the CD following it ...
