...very clear that they have nothing to prove to anyone here, the band has been together since 1995 now and has over the years more than proved its worth as an excellent hardcore punk band. The album consists of 10 tracks and this therefore provides for 29 minutes of music. A number of excellent guest vocalists feature here such as Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba, Gorilla Biscuits main man Anthony Civarelli, and Agnostic Front's vocalist Roger Miret also ... ...and always the bands music has much to offer throughout this 'Nothing to Prove' album.
When H2O released 'Go' in 2001 a far poppier edge to the music was showcased, the band was signed to major label MCA Records and it really did show through the more commercial nature of the music that the band released. 'Prepare To Be Let Down' is an interesting yet fairly unspectacular album from the Baltimore-based hardcore punk band that is Ruiner. This is not the best album you will ever hear in the genre, it's certainly got something about it however which makes this album extremely satisfying to listen to. The tracks are kept short and simple, the album contains twelve tracks and yet runs for a total of just over twenty minutes. The shortest track here titled ... ...the short length of the tracks however the music is effective and works successfully as a decent display of hardcore punk.
Ruiner has a definite talent for the music that is created here, the bands members are not hugely talented and yet somehow this sound works well. By keeping the music simple and the tracks short, Ruiner is able to disguise the fatal flaws of the band through powering through the tracks and not really allowing for you to think ...

Death Before Dishonor is a five-piece hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. 'Count Me In' is the bands third studio album to date and was released through Bridge Nine Records, the label that the band has been signed to since 2004. In my opinion this is by far the best album that the band has ever written and most certainly comprises of some of the bands finest material to date. 'Friends, Family, Forever' preceded this album in 2005, 'Count ... ...huge improvement from Death Before Dishonor and an album that has made me think a lot more of the band.
In the past I have never particularly appreciated the music of Death Before Dishonor. On previous releases the album tracks have all sounded the same to me, this is certainly not the case here however. I first came across Miles Away through one song - Worlds Apart. I had this in a compilation of many other hardcore tracks, but I found that this consistently stood out. Under the strength of that song alone I purchased Miles Away debut album titled... um.... Miles Away.
Miles Away are a fast paced, energetic hardcore band, from Perth Australia. Influenced by the likes of Champion and Gorilla Biscuits. They released their debut under hardcore label ... ...They have been described as one of the hardest working bands in the Australian hardcore scene and actually made Australia aware there actually was a Perth hardcore scene.
This album isn't the 'official' debut album as it collects tracks taken from two EPs 'Make it count' and 'State of Affairs' - a split CD that featured 5 Aussie bands.

Advantages: Fast, energy filled tunes, Powerful drum beats Disadvantages: Too short
...The album opens up with Promises Kept which sets the tone well for what to expect. Slowly building up before the singer comes in shouting 'Break' the rhythm becomes faster and the drums kick in. Finally the lyrics come into play which I can only describing as making feel that you're actually at a hardcore show. On first listening it gets you really pumped up. This track is important though because I feel it sets the tone about what Champion is about ... ...excellent introduction to anyone new to hardcore, who like myself have that Minor Threat album but don't know what to go for next.
Unfortunately Promises Kept is Champions last album. As they have now called it a day. However they certainly left on a high.
