Epicus Doomicus Metallicus was Candlemass's debut album and was released in 1986 on the Black Dragon Records label, it was to set a precedent for their future work and bring a unique sound to music as they delve in to the dark realms of doom metal. Whilst moving and dark, it's not necessarily depressing at all - in fact I'd like to say that it has a "graveyard fairground" sound to it, the tracks are quite long and progressive and aside from heavy ... ...the album.
The title Epicus Doomicus Metallicus doesn't quite have the ring to it as other latin named albums like Katedra's Natus in Articulo Mortis but it certainly sums the album up very well. This is epic stuff and very enjoyable it is too.

Normally im into Children of Bodom, Slipknot, BFMV and alot more of the screamo bands. But the Avenged Sevefold have a truly unique style, the vocalist is amazing. I bought this album, and loved it. I think the best on the album is The beast and the harlot. I truly love this band and cannot wait until their next tour. The consistancy of the tracks is also very good with tracks like afterlife, bat country, Blinded in chains, MIA and gunslinger deserving ...

This was back before the lead singer Dave Williams died, and they have gone downhill since. This album is very raw and heavy, but was unlike other bands at the same time. The biggest hit from this album was track 2 'Bodies'. This song is very aggressive but also catchy and original. This album doesn't have a single song that i dislike, this may be due to the fact that there is a strong element that is consistent between such as the guitar sounds. ...
