Carcuss - Choice Cuts. Best cuts or discount cuts?
Advantages: Good all round selection for people new to the band Disadvantages: Nothing new for fans of the band
Choice Cuts is a best of album, taking songs from a wide selection of the bands history. You will find some of the early Grind stuff but it mainly consists of the newer more melodic output. Being a Carcass fan I have most of the Album based tracks already, and none of these are actually re-recorded or re-mastered. The Peel Sessions are of a very raw sound quality, and may not be for everyone. The amount of rarities that are out there for this band ... ...this compilation, rather than the few pickings here. This would be a good CD for people new to Carcass and are looking for a nice sample from various parts of there history, as for long time fans, you can skip this as it contains very little you don't already have bar a few interviews and some other hard to find bits and bobs, most of which could be found on video site like youtube or something. ...

DICTIONARIES OUT, CARCASS ARE BACK.
Advantages: The blinding track "Carnal Forge", the legibility of the songs and lyrics for newer listeners. Disadvantages: Hard to find any. Stunning release.
Carcass kind of turned a corner with this album. (More or less) gone is the sick, medical dictionary language in the lyrics, as they mature, still with sick connotations, and phrases probably taken from the Collins Pocket book of Medicine, but this time worded more philosophical. The music has a different edge to it. The booming chugs and full on dark death metal evident on the masterpiece "Necroticism Descanting the insalubrious" has been replaced ... ...half. "Carnal forge", the second track on here, is a ride that you will never forget. Four minutes of pure insane 10-car pile ups and a mass brawling of guitars. Classics like "Heartwork" and "Buried Dreams" also appear, and some of the later songs have a dark melodica to them, that probably only Carcass could have emitted. The musicianship is a high standard, the songs are heavy and catchy at the same time, and are written perfectly. Also the production ...

A musical version of an autopsy
Advantages: The essence of extreme metal Disadvantages: ......I'm struggling to find any....
After one poorly produced album, followed by one of the most influential grindcore albums of the last decade. Necrotism is an equally successful album in this much overlooked genre.
Carcass seemed to have settled on a particular sound and with a new member (Mike Ammott) it's only natural that what is spewed out in the recording studio is nothing more than good, great and better. Each title is introduced with what appears to be surgical banter from ... ...a little tedious if they drag on for a bit but once the track kicks in we immediatley forget about it. Songs such as Inpropagation, Corporal Jigsore Quandary & Incarnated Solvent Abuse really aim for the jugular. The riffs are low tuned, gut wrenching fists of fury the likes of which will make any metal fan glee with joy. Bill Steer is still amazing, while Jeff Walkers vocals, though screeching and belching as they still are, seem to be more clear ...

The start of pioneering a new genre for carcass
Advantages: heartwork is a great song; other good songs Disadvantages: bit samey after a while, no real standouts
...musically from their previous albums. Heartwork was the start of the end for Carcass, which is a shame as they were one of the most successful British bands underground in the early 90’s. This album is mainly made up of songs from the melodic metal genre, with hints of other genres too, and is much more accessible than previous efforts, hence why it was their most successful. I chose to review this album as I personally think it is their best one.
... ...in order to listen to heartwork and one or two others, just don’t expect any real masterpieces.
For fans of:
Real fans of Carcass didn’t like this album as it sounded nothing like their previous album, so I wouldn’t recommend it to fans of gore grind for this reason. Fans of death metal may like, as will fans of melodic metal/thrash. ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
