Review of Insineratehymn - Deicide by silentcomplex

Advantages: good music
Disadvantages: repetive

The story Nature written by Ralph Waldo Emerson is one giant motif in its self. In the story Emerson truly shows his passion in great detail of the bountiful glory of nature. He conveys his massage through deep metaphors and descriptions of nature. The motif or theme of the story is how nature can control your emotions in such a way as if the world around you didn't exist and how your emotions can tie into the way you view life. The story is saturated ...
...has to offer. "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit" is a powerful quote that represents just how devoted Emerson is to showing the reader how powerful your emotions can be towards your life. Through the writing Emerson makes it clear that there can be a light and a dark side of nature. The light side being the ... Read review

Lots and lots of lovely death (metal)....
Review of Death Unlimited - Norther by StavrosJohnson

Advantages: Meaty riffing, great vocals & fantastic drumming.
Disadvantages: Some of the songs sound similar to each other

...Norther, friends and contemporaries of Death Metal luminaries such as Children of Bodom and Ensiferum, are still something of an unknown quantity in the Death Metal world, despite producing some of the finest, and heaviest, albums in the last few years. The first time I heard Norther was when my girlfriend played them for me, and I was blown away by the power, the speed, the enthusiasm, and the talent displayed by this group of young men. The highlight ...
...Death Unlimited, in which they stake their claim for Death Metal kings with an album that simply blows away the competition. I believe this can be attributed to their using less keyboards than bands like Children of Bodom, which lends the tunes on the album an increased brutality and directness - a refreshing change! Although not the easiest band to come across by accident (you're not likely to see thier CD's on sale in most shops outside big cities, ... Read review

In flames, might be best thing for it.
Review of Come Clarity - In Flames by paulhanton

Advantages: Some accomplished bits.
Disadvantages: Screaming and samey drum beats.

In Flames - Come Clarity Yet another of my 14 year old (next months) son's offerings which he insists 'You must listen to this dad'. This is by no means my longest review as I am not going to 'fill' when I have not much to say. Wikipedia tell me that these are a Swedish melodic death metal band.....not a good start, however, being am open minded dad I thought I should give them a a go. Though I do fail to see how Death Metal can be melodic, ho, ...
...5. Scream 6. Come Clarity 7. Vacuum 8. Pacing Death's Trail 9. Crawl Through Knives 10. Versus Terminus 11. Our Infinite Struggle 12. Vanishing Light 13. Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone I am not going to review every track as I have to say they are all quite similar. They are fast, drum based songs with some pretty fast and accomplished guitar work, both lead and bass. The vocals go from screaming to well, screaming. The intro drum work on ... Read review

Nihilism sounds good today...
Review of Nihility - Decapitated by Lofnorsk

Advantages: Original, brutal, better than many other death metal bands
Disadvantages: Not to some peoples taste

Nihility is Decapitated's second album out of four, released in 2002. Their albums seem to come out every couple of years and whilst their latest one was a disappointment (Organic Hallucinosis), it is only because its predecessors are so impressive. The original group is no more unfortunately, but they stem from Poland and are younger than me, much to my jealousy when i found out! They were fourteen when their first album was released. Their brutal ...
...metal connoisseurs, the riffs on Nihility blow everything else out of the water. Listen to Spheres of Madness (track 6) to see what i mean. The cold nihilistic lyrics, for example: "You think that destruction is the way Let your own pain be the answer For nothingness, for non-existence in emptiness Being for not being, religion of black hole..." (Track 4: Nihility: Anti Human Manifesto) are balanced well against the technicality of the playing, ... Read review

Not the best Decapitated Album
Review of Organic Hallucinosis - Decapitated by dangaroo

Advantages: Good technically, still quite aggressive, Day 69 is a great track
Disadvantages: A bit unmemorable and a change in style

...through the albums. Post Organic is another good track with some particularly good solos but personally I'm a bigger fan of the 2000 album - Winds of Creation and in particular the early demos of the band when they are just young, drunk and focussed on death metal. Revelation of Existence on this album really has little going for the average listener. It's definitely not their best album but I think it may go down as their most well remembered one ...
...and if they will reform, we will have to see. 1. "A Poem About an Old Prison Man" - 4:41 2. "Day 69" - 3:14 3. "Revelation of Existence (The Trip)" - 4:39 4. "Post(?) Organic" - 5:45 5. "Visual Delusion" - 5:55 6. "Flash-B(l)ack" - 3:41 7. "Invisible Control" - 4:45 The album is a change from their usual death metal and is more like clinical technical hardcore, an unwelcome change to both me and a fair few of their fans. ...
