A Major Threat
Advantages: All of Minor Threats songs on one album Disadvantages: Over hyped
This is an essential album for anyone who likes hardcore punk.
The album collects all of Minor Threats songs onto one album, which saves you having to look for and buy all the EPs and 7" around. Although it is the 'complete discography' I'm pretty certain there's an odd track about that was realised years after this albums release.
This is a release on Dischord a label started up because the Teen Idles wanted to put a record out, but figured no ... ...the 1990's and was remastered in 2003. It collects recordings from 1981 and 1983.
The band is Ian MacKaye vocals (Teen Idles, Fugazi, Embrace, The Evens, and some other bands).
Lyle Preslar - guitar (Meat Men)
Brian Baker - bass (Bad Religion)
Jeff Nelson drums (Egg Hunt, Teen Idles)
'Filler' opens up the album a screaming fast paced attack on religion "You picked up a Bible and now you're gone." A good fast paced track that opens up the album. ...

Archetypal Fugazi...And I Love It
Advantages: Cheap, Great intorduction to the band Disadvantages: I cant find any fault, all the tracks are; for me great, but all very different
...offshoot of the hardcore movement. Repeater +3 Songs (the full title of the album, combined with the EP of 1990) is archetypal Fugazi, with the swift pitch shifts, and thunderous guitars, supported by Lally's rumbling bass lines (which inspired Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers to learn) and the smashing drums and cymbals.
The album is beyond any Hardcore or Punk Rock before it. It has been dubbed as Post Hardcore, which is fitting, but also an understatement, ... ...Standout tracks for me are: Repeater the title track, with its standout slogan '1, 2, 3 Repeater..' and oddly distant final verse with volume swells, and high pitched guitars. Also Merchandise; the closest track for me, to hardcore, with deeply based political and anti capitalist lyrics 'You are not what you own!'. Also the vocals, more akin to the charged anger of MacKaye in his Minor Threat days, or Henry Rollins of Black Flag. Additionally, Shut ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

My favourite album
Advantages: Unique and Brilliant consistancey of good tracks Disadvantages: Old fashion looking album design
Normally im into Children of Bodom, Slipknot, BFMV and alot more of the screamo bands. But the Avenged Sevefold have a truly unique style, the vocalist is amazing. I bought this album, and loved it. I think the best on the album is The beast and the harlot. I truly love this band and cannot wait until their next tour. The consistancy of the tracks is also very good with tracks like afterlife, bat country, Blinded in chains, MIA and gunslinger deserving ...
