Classic 80's trash metal with a message
Advantages: trash metal the way you expect it to be, fast, powerfull and with a meaning Disadvantages: 40+ minutes make it for nowadays standard somehow a short album, but every second is great so...
...you. Sacred Reich is an American band that plays leftwing thrash metal in a very convincing way. Even nowadays songs like I don't know, titletrack 'the american way' or 'crimes against humanity' remain songs I like to scream along with! The music itself is decent dry produced trash metal, not to much of metal but good old groovin straight forward headbanging extravaganza. Combined with those typical yet understandable lyrics and virtuos guitarplaying ...

Brutal and insane jazz-influenced death metal
Advantages: Incredibly tight and fast, great riffs and drumwork, sick vocals Disadvantages: None
...and heavy, the songs on None So Vile are more varied than those of its predecessor with more interesting changes in momentum throughout that prevent the album from ever becoming stale. The band's production problems of old are gone too, with the new album possessing a suitably crunchier and bassier sound as opposed to the flat and lo-fi sound of its predecessor, with the Eric Langlois' bass work fitting in well with the other instruments rather than ... ...Flo's relentless blasting None So Vile is a brutal and incredibly musically tight death metal album packed full of hugely catchy and enjoyable jazzy riffs and ferocious clattering drums, possessing just the right balance between all-out-blasting and crushing mid-paced grooves throughout. Its quite a short album at just over 30 minutes but such is its musical density and sonic violence that you're unlikely to notice. Cryptopsy would lose vocalist ...

Worthy of Ungentle Exhumation
Advantages: Very powerful, tight and fast with intense vocals Disadvantages: Production isn't great, a little samey in places
Following on from their demo 'Ungentle Exhumation', Cryptopsy's 1994 debut album 'Blasphemy Made Flesh' is a solid and uncompromising if not stunningly innovative death metal album, which alternates passages of very fast blasting with jazzy guitars and drums that Swedish peers Insison would later pick up on with mid-paced chugging sections full of crunchy riffs and deep grooves. The band does not deviate through this formula throughout, and some ... ...remains a hugely energetic and impressively technical listen. Flo Mournier's drums are the most impressive aspect of the album, consisting of extremely fast yet varied blastbeats and bucketloads of drum fills. The guitars back the drums up nicely, and aside from the sections of whirlwind, descending-scale riffing and passages of chunky grooves there is plenty of ridiculousy melodic soloing throughout. The downtuned and twangy bass stands out a little ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
