Japan Live 95'
Advantages: Good selection of songs through the bands early career Disadvantages: A few decent songs missing, Lyrics are pretty much genre standard
The American heavy metal band Dokken are a great band to check out for anyone into over the top shred, catchy melodies and general 80sness. Featuring virtuoso guitarist George Lynch's awesome solos and great hit songs such as "Into the fire", "alone again" and "breaking the chains" this is a decent album to get for someone wanting to check out the band as this really is a top set list. The album is all recorded live at Tokyos Kosei Nenkin hall, and ... ...of sound quality and band tightness etc, with such accomplished musicians as these this is not really an issue and you get a sense of the electric atmosphere as well as Georges solo chops that he is world reknown for.
There are a few songs I would have liked to have seen on here such as Dream Warriors and another big hit that is missing Just got lucky
Other than that can't really find fault with it. A decent album and as I say a good way to check ...

Saved by the guitars
Advantages: Quality guitar playing, catchy Disadvantages: The lyrics, the look and Don Dokken is a bit ott
Don Dokken and his band have a reputation as a hair metal band, and so they damn well should because that's what they are! What's perhaps overlooked though is their musical ability, seemingly easy guitar solos fly off left right and centre in a buttery way, there's nothing heavy about the lyrical or musical content but it's catchy stuff and even if Don looks more like Stephen Fry than a plausible metal god these days, his melodic voice deserves a ... ...artist in the khazi the night after a curry and still somehow manages to keep it tune.
That's talent! The lyrics are on the whole, merely their to make you wince at the pure cheese of them but I'm still willing to listen to them due to the guitar solos, a lot of the praise has to be directed towards George Lynch who has quite a unique style of playing - speedy alternate picking, lots of string bends and whammy bar and open string chords whilst hitting ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

My favourite album
Advantages: Unique and Brilliant consistancey of good tracks Disadvantages: Old fashion looking album design
Normally im into Children of Bodom, Slipknot, BFMV and alot more of the screamo bands. But the Avenged Sevefold have a truly unique style, the vocalist is amazing. I bought this album, and loved it. I think the best on the album is The beast and the harlot. I truly love this band and cannot wait until their next tour. The consistancy of the tracks is also very good with tracks like afterlife, bat country, Blinded in chains, MIA and gunslinger deserving ...
