Great Comeback by the Finnish masters
Advantages: Amazing Vocals Disadvantages: cant really think of any
Amorphis experienced some drastic changes a few years ago. Their old vocalist, Pasi Koskinen, was replaced by the new one. The big question was whether the new guy could go a good job and maintain the bands voice and identity. Well, Tomi Joutsen really did do a fantastic job. Probably an even better vocalist than Pasi Koskinen. Tomi brings in the strength needed to match the powerful music. He has a very diverse vocal style with great clean as well ... ...vocals really sits well with the music. The blending of different styles of vocals in songs like THE SMOKE makes one wonder how Tomi can handle such drastic changes with his voice. The music in the album is melodic and is the trademark Amorphis style. There are good riffs. HOUSE OF SLEEP has a great opening riff. THE SMOKE starts with a cool melody with acoustic guitars and a piano. Probably the best song on the record.
The album is great. Great ...

Not now, but definitely one for later.
Advantages: Fits into many genres, appealing to many. Disadvantages: Not entirely representative of his current 'sound'.
Track Listing:
1. So Far Away
2. My Typical Angel
3. Teenage Love Rock
4. That's What She Said 5. December Days 6. She's A Seven
This is the 'first' album from the almost one man band The Rocket Summer. Bryce Avary plays all the instruments on his tracks, but not, obviously, in the live concerts.
This album contains tracks from when Bryce first started making music as a teenager. It therefore contains songs everyone can, or once could, relate ... ...as 'happy emo' and there really is no better way of putting it. If you listened to the songs without listening to the words, you could mistakenly think he hates life, when in fact, he's usually rejoicing about something.
However, I have noticed that you can buy this album for prices such as £10.99 which ridiculous when it only contains 6 tracks. And yes these tracks are all really catchy and you can listen to a very talented person, but his gigs ...

Eclipse
Advantages: Every song is a different style, sounds amazing, very technical Disadvantages: Not really Yngwie's style
I'm a big fan of Yngwie Malmsteen's art (well, it's more art than music). I own all of his albums and videos, and in my opinion, "Eclipse" is his best album ever.
This album is very colorful - I mean, everyone can find something of his own in it. It starts with the typical '80s song "Making Love", but with the YJM touch, amazing and very technical guitar solo. The second song, "Bedroom Eyes" shows that the Maestro does everything really good - it's ...

A hail to the Metal Invasion!
Advantages: Happy, fun, inoffensive Disadvantages: Nothing
This is an example of Freedom Call doing what they do best - producing inoffensive, catchy, melodic power metal.
The music itself is not particularly technical. The solos are mid to slow tempo and the songs never get too advanced. Still, you'll find some of the best metal tracks on Freedom Call albums because they have a formula that works.
The very first track "Metal Invasion" sets the tone for the album. A somewhat corny latin introduction which ... ...warriors. It breaks into an even more cringe-worthy vocal harmony about "Warriors" and "Immortal Nights". This is not a negative, however. This is exactly what makes Freedom Call so good. It's the kind of music you can and will have fun listening to.
The rest of the album follows in a similar style. The track "Warriors" has become a big hit now and for very good reasons. Another flawless vocal performance and the catchiest chorus known to man make ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
