Rage Against The Machine Album Review

Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock
Disadvantages: An acquired taste

Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ...
...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

...much like any live album, I would say to people, dont buy it untill youve heard the studio stuff, its not worth finding out about the songs for a live album, when you listen to a studio CD your listening to songs, when you listen to a live album, your hearing the band, in live, raw, gutfelt emotion. To buy this album with out hearing RATM would be stupid, but for fans, this CD captures Rage in their finest, sell out moment, with a belt full of hits ...

3 Hard Core rants against an unfair world

Advantages: Innovative, hard hitting and ferocious
Disadvantages: Unrelenting

...heaviness and political punch. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE 'Bombtrack' 'Landlords and power whores On my people they took turns Dispute the suits I ignite And watch 'em burn' The album opens on a great introduction to RATM. The composition, innovation and mood of the track hint at what is to come, but is relatively simple and easy going compared to later tracks. The track opens with a heavy riff from the guitar and angst ridden drums, but it ...

'Killing in The Name' 'Those who died are justified for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites You justified those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites' Opening with an explosive guitar riff with short sharp chords, before launching into their most infamous riff. This straight forward and anthemic rock track is instantly recognisable to just ...

Confrontational Hardcore at it's Best

Advantages: Heavier than their other albums, if you like that sort of thing
Disadvantages: Heavier than their other albums, if you don't like that sort of thing

1996 saw the long awaited release of Rage Against the Machine's second album 'Evil Empire', a much darker and heavier album than their self titled debut. In league with their political stand point the title is in reference to the name given to the former Soviet Union by Ronald Regan and other conservatives. Although the album was produced 12 years ago it is interesting to note the same political concerns are still prevelant. Featuring less innovation ...

The Rage is still here...

Advantages: Great music, cool vibes...
Disadvantages: They split up now...

BACKGROUND ****************** Rage Against The Machine (RATM) is one of the greatest best of the 90’s. I listened to them for the 1st time during December 92, 7 months after the release of their first album “Rage Against The Machine”. I didn’t get hooked straight away I have to admit, as I was really into Guns N’ Roses at the time, and other heavy metal band. I therefore put the CD on my shelf. Until the day I decided to listen to it properly. ...
...at Lollapalooza III in Philadelphia, Rage create a silent protest against censorship by standing naked on stage for 15 minutes without singing or playing a note. Each band member has duct tape across his mouth and a letter scrawled on his chest, spelling out "P-M-R-C." Rage organize a benefit concert "For The Freedom Of Leonard Peltier," California State University, Dominguez Hills, California. Rage headlines a bill including Cypress Hill, Quicksand, ...
