Fear Factory definately evolving
Review of Digimortal [PA] - Fear Factory by pestilence_gj

Advantages: Stays true to Fear Factory sound
Disadvantages: Some tracks take a little getting used to

This latest release from metal titans Fear Factory came as rather a shock to me as the first track I heard was "What Will Become", the opening number, at a club and thought to myself "This is Fear Factory?". Slight fears about what had become of a band that I love so much stalled me from purchasing the album, but then I heard the next single "Linchpin", and it blew me away. So out I went and bought the album, and boy am I glad I did. Fear Factory ...
...fundamentally made them in the first place - the variations in vocals (going from screaming to melodic singing) and the ripping fast guitars by Dino Cazares and the double kick drums of Raymond Herrera. These all combined since the beginning to create what makes Fear Factory so distinctive in the world of metal, and I'm glad to say that they are all still here. This album even avoids falling into the trap that the last release "Obsolete" did in that ... Read review

Transgression, Progression?
Review of Transgression - Fear Factory by mental_infestation

Advantages: Heaviness, brutality, a melodic soft side
Disadvantages: A little too mellow in places, a bit too mellow

Fear Factory - Transgression I have been a fan of the so called "techno-metal" band Fear Factory for about 7 years now, and I've seen them live a couple of times. I love this band, but will their new album be as impressive as their previous albums? The version I have is the limited 2 disc edition (though I am only reviewing the album and not the DVD), and though I bought it on the day it came out, I've not had a chance to listen to the album properly. ...
...C Bell - Vocals (Vox Martyr Automata) Raymond Herrera - Drums (Systematic Battery) Christian Olde Wolbers - Guitar (Visceral Pentatonic Resonance) Byron Stroud - Bass (Intrinsic Low End Convergence) The artwork is alright, it's nice and shiny. But it's not the artwork I'm concerned about! Oh no, I bought this album for the music and that is what I'm here to review. So let's get on with it! 1. 540,000 F A nice fast zooming sound leads into heavy ... Read review

Fear is the Mindkiller
Review of Fear Is The Mindkiller (Remix EP) - Fear Factory by crustypaul

Advantages: A couple of good remixes, some of it rocks
Disadvantages: Sounds unfinished, not heavy enough

...all popular, never mind eh. Fear is the Mindkiller is a set of six remixes of tracks from the 'Soul of a new Machine' album. All the remixes were reassembled by Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber from industrial music pioneers, Front Line Assembly, so if you have heard any FLA then you know exactly what to expect. What is it with these people, with a name like Rhys Fulber you can't really be anything else other than a rock god. Imagine 'Eagle Eye Cherry' ...
...although the vocal performance from Fear Factory's singer is quite impressive. This man is clearly in need of some kind of throat sweets, removing the pint of phlegm that appears to be lodged in his throat would be another good option. The first track 'Martyr' is fairly standard stuff with chugging guitars grinding over a
