Prepare to be Terminated!
Advantages: Experience an album that changed the industrial metal scene forever Disadvantages: The album that created Spineshank
Released by: ROADRUNNER, 1995 Genre: Industrial Metal 'Demanufacture' is the second album by the Los Angeles cyber-metal crew, Fear Factory - an album that was about to change their career forever! Album Cover Design: sporting an industrious skeleton barcode, Fear Factory mark the sleeve with a new image and a new sound to boot. A perfect choice that works well with the bands new direction and sound. Album Packaging: Digi-pack, very impressive and ... ...My first opinion of the album - has got to be "is this sound for real?". The moment the first track blasted out it made you sit up and take note of how Fear Factory changed and progressed with their own trademark sound since their debut album. My overall opinion of the album - this CD is going to change metal as we know it just like The Terminator and Blade Runner changed Science Fiction. The industrial elements incorporated with Dino Cazares' groundbreaking ...

Transgression, Progression?
Advantages: Heaviness, brutality, a melodic soft side Disadvantages: A little too mellow in places, a bit too mellow
Fear Factory - Transgression
I have been a fan of the so called "techno-metal" band Fear Factory for about 7 years now, and I've seen them live a couple of times. I love this band, but will their new album be as impressive as their previous albums? The version I have is the limited 2 disc edition (though I am only reviewing the album and not the DVD), and though I bought it on the day it came out, I've not had a chance to listen to the album properly. ... ...C Bell - Vocals (Vox Martyr Automata)
Raymond Herrera - Drums (Systematic Battery)
Christian Olde Wolbers - Guitar (Visceral Pentatonic Resonance)
Byron Stroud - Bass (Intrinsic Low End Convergence)
The artwork is alright, it's nice and shiny. But it's not the artwork I'm concerned about! Oh no, I bought this album for the music and that is what I'm here to review. So let's get on with it!

Fear Factory definately evolving
Advantages: Stays true to Fear Factory sound Disadvantages: Some tracks take a little getting used to
This latest release from metal titans Fear Factory came as rather a shock to me as the first track I heard was "What Will Become", the opening number, at a club and thought to myself "This is Fear Factory?". Slight fears about what had become of a band that I love so much stalled me from purchasing the album, but then I heard the next single "Linchpin", and it blew me away. So out I went and bought the album, and boy am I glad I did.
Fear Factory ... ...fundamentally made them in the first place - the variations in vocals (going from screaming to melodic singing) and the ripping fast guitars by Dino Cazares and the double kick drums of Raymond Herrera. These all combined since the beginning to create what makes Fear Factory so distinctive in the world of metal, and I'm glad to say that they are all still here. This album even avoids falling into the trap that the last release "Obsolete" did in that ...

Electronic Death Metal
Advantages: Electronic Death Metal of the highest order Disadvantages: weak at some points.
As quite a big metal fan (most genres), I find it amusing that Fear Factory is so accpeted within the main group of big metal bands.
Throughout their career, they have marked on a amazngly tight, fast and heavy riffage, and vocals.
Concept albums do seem to let them down to some people, but could they be the prog rock of the 90s/00s?
Every album is advancing their music, by adavancing the technical/industrial input, and having amazing, split second ... ...melody.
This album proves it. With the highlights being songs such as Edge Crusher, Freedom or Fire, Resuurection, etc. It is a well worth splashing out if you like this kind of music.
What attracts me is they have belief and strength behind their convictions, and they support what they say. They also have a large edge of Death Metal, which they make absolutely amazing!
I have to say my favourite Fear Factory song is actually a B side, "0-0 {Where ...

Original Architects
Advantages: A real return to form Disadvantages: The cover of 'School' is a bit out of place, and it doesn't really offer much new on previous albums
...battle of man against machine. Archetype doesn’t particularly progress the story, but it dwells on much the same themes - which match their sound quite well (Burton’s vocals representing the human heart of the band, struggling against the machinery-produced backing). There’s a lot of thought in the lyrics too, from the memorable “I blame myself” chorus of the opening track to the “The infection has been removed/ The soul of this machine has been ... ...Burton’s distinctive vocals are, well, the same as ever really. I can’t say they’re particularly better or worse than normal, but they’re one of the stronger elements of the Fear Factory sound, and he’s one of the few metal singers who can effortlessly shift from melodic singing to a thunderous roar (Machine Head’s Robb Flynn is the best other example I can think of). The backing is the typical industrial/metal crossover, with pounding guitars that ...
