Let's Finnish What We Started
Advantages: Some great modern doom on the even-numbered songs. Disadvantages: Some incredibly average modern doom in-between.
Another year, another Finnish doom metal band that sounds pretty much the same as all the rest. The inappropriately named Ablaze in Hatred loyally follow the tradition of Swallow the Sun, Draconian, Saturnus and others in expressing a feeling of gloom typical to doom metal, but tinged with an overall lighter and more hopeful attitude than the inconsolable despair of English and Norwegian bands, and considering this is the young group's first album ... ...make up 'Deceptive Awareness' are all on the longish side, as expected from a musical genre that relies on slow, drawn-out passages rather than the energetic assaults of other heavy metal forms, but as all are kept under ten minutes, none fall into the trap of unreasonable longevity. Unfortunately, the energy does slow up considerably on some offerings, making this something of a chore to sit through in one sitting; as with all the best doom, it's ...

Great riffs but where are the songs?
Advantages: Some beautiful riffs and enjoyable chugging doom sections, solid if overpolished production Disadvantages: Low on innovation, feels devoid of any real passion
...Swallow The Sun play. 'The Morning Never Came' is a very polished listen, with plenty of catchy doom riffs and soaring melodies dripping with sadness that are designed to appeal to fans of My Dying Bride's later, more commercial output, but where the two bands differ is in terms of song structure. Whilst My Dying Bride may have moved away from their raw and murky death metal roots in favour of a more polished sound, they never for a moment compromised ... ...and over-polished. 'The Morning Never Came' doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind whether it wants to be gothic doom or depressive rock, and ends up straddling both camps without ever really getting to grips properly with either genre. Its an album that's good for a quick spin now again but wont hold the attention for all that long, although fans of gentler, more mainstream gothic doom and rock will likely still find something of interest here. ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...

My favourite album
Advantages: Unique and Brilliant consistancey of good tracks Disadvantages: Old fashion looking album design
Normally im into Children of Bodom, Slipknot, BFMV and alot more of the screamo bands. But the Avenged Sevefold have a truly unique style, the vocalist is amazing. I bought this album, and loved it. I think the best on the album is The beast and the harlot. I truly love this band and cannot wait until their next tour. The consistancy of the tracks is also very good with tracks like afterlife, bat country, Blinded in chains, MIA and gunslinger deserving ...
