Worth a Bet...

Advantages: They don't let you down... what you'd expect...
Disadvantages: None really

Picture, if you can, a young man wearing jeans and leather, trying to grow his hair, but finding he looked more like a poodle than a rock star - which is probably what he was trying to portray (the rock star, not the poodle). Well, that would-be rock star impersonator is me and it is hard to believe that that man was once I. It was around that era that I discovered Helloween for the first time. Helloween hail from Germany and their first album was ...
...changes - some members sacked, some quit and some forced to leave due to ill health. 'Gambling with the Devil' is their thirteenth album and the line up is a follows: Andi Deris - Vocals Michael Weikath - Guitars Sascha Gerstner - Guitars Marcus Grobkopt - Bass Dani Loble - Drums I eventually gave up on growing my hair, it just got too curly at the back, and for a short period I gave up on Helloween. Years pass in life and change occurs. The ...

The Keys to the Kingdom

Advantages: Top vocals, guitars and metal
Disadvantages: none

Do you remember the eighties? Remember those eighties bands… sure you do: bands like Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Human League and… Helloween. ‘Helloween?’ you shriek. What in blue blazes is that all about? Well, they were not an eighties band in the way ‘eighties bands’ are depicted, but they certainly were around at the time. Whereas the aforementioned bands played soft synth pop, Helloween played Metal… Heirs to The Scorpions, Helloween hail ...
...of Metal, Helloween play it fast, they were and are a Thrash Metal Act. Still at it now in 2007, I am reviewing their third album which was originally produced in February 1987 and then repackaged along with bonus tracks in 2006. They have been through a few band member changes since, but the line-up at the time of ‘Keeper of the 7 Keys Part 1’ was as follows: Michael Kiske – Lead Vocals Kai Hansen – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals Marcus Grobkopt ...

Helloween goes pop

Advantages: great vocals and production
Disadvantages: definately not what you expected from these guys, lack of good riffs and solos

Chameleon by many regarded as the worst Helloween offering to date since with this album the band goes further away from the metal path and continues to go down the softer road they started to travel with their previous album,Pink Bubbles Go Ape. I do not mind a good rock album once in a while and with great musicans such as Helloween and amazing vocalist such as Michael Kiske grabbed my intrest to look closer into this album. The album begins with ...
...does in fact remind a litle like early Bon Jovi, a good and solid rocktune which well could have chances to hit the charts! After that track I was eager to the hear the next song. Unfortunately from the second song, the downhill starts. "When The Sinner" sounds boring and uninspring, and i would classify this song as a poor pop song! The drums sounds very weak and flat and the tune relies more on kick horns than guitars. Five seconds after you listened ...

...Track Two Captain Morgans Revenge 5/5 This is a brilliant track, infact it is better than brilliant! I love the guitarring its really catching and the drums are excellent. Lyrics are immense and stick in your head 'So have no fear and dont look back the afterlife awaits' I love that line espesially I dont know why. The track in itself is just indescribable to be honest, its probably one of the best songs I have heard from this band. Track Three The ...
