Daughters come back but not screaming

Advantages: Shows the band differnt direction
Disadvantages: fans of canada songs may not be happy

...instrumentation to be used. Hell Songs features a lot more different sounds than Canada Songs, guitar tones are exploited and put to good use on this record, all while keeping up the intensity that the songs need to work. There's also (unless my ears are really deceiving me) some keyboard used on this record, making it a more interesting and varied listen than the previous album also. As for those vocals, imagine Elvis, post nervous-breakdown, after ...
...can sound, but it works. The vocals can go from actual singing, to shouting, to mumbling like a drunken fool, but in the world of Daughters, it all fits and it all works. Unfortunately, we have another short record, and with the songs being as short as they are, there's not a lot I can pick out to include in a review. However, I will say, don't be put off by the people who seem to think that no screaming equals a bad record, those people are missing ...

Exactly what the title says!

Advantages: Everything you love about cave in, in one album.
Disadvantages: Will not get enough exposure due to it's hard edge.

...floyd and velvet underground, then perfect pitch black is an album you must buy. The melodic, spacey songs such as 'paranormal' and 'tension in the ranks' will have you lay back in your chair wondering just where this album is going to take you. Whereas the more hard edged hardcore inspired 'treppaning' and 'off to ruin' will hit you in the face like a 10 ton hammer, but still posses the melodies that any band would kill for. If you own the bands ...

Best Pelican Album

Advantages: Essential album for fans of post-rock/-post-metal/doom
Disadvantages: Some people may dislike lengthy songs, or the instrumental style of the band

The simple categorisation of "Heavy Metal" really doesn't do this album justice, it doesn't need to be confined to genre. From the crushing wall of riffs and raw power of "March to the Sea" to the beautifully melodic but enigmatic "Aurora Borealis," this album is in my opinion Pelican's finest release. Pelican are an instrumental band, this means no vocals/lyrics which in my opinion just makes the fantastic instrumentation and almost narrative-like ...
...kind of metal, for people willing to give more thought to the composition process and perhaps not for impatient listeners (some of the songs are over ten minutes in length). For fans of artists such as ISIS, Cult of Luna, Irreversible, Russian Circles, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros. ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review

Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock
Disadvantages: An acquired taste

Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ...
...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
