Three Discs of Frozen Quality
Advantages: Over three hours of Awsome Music Disadvantages: Misses some very good tracks
...3 disc live album entitled Alive in Athens was recorded on the nights of the 23rd and 24th of January of 1999, it was recorded in the Rodon Club, Athens, Greece. These two concerts were sell outs, with approximately 2000 people each night. The idea of reproducing a snapshot of most of their career certainly worked as the three discs cover every thing from their older tracks to the, as they were then, newer tracks. Here is the track list for those ... ...Is Mine Pure Evil My Own Savior Melancholy (Holy Martyr) Dante's Inferno The Hunter Travel In Stygian Slave To The Dark A Question Of Heaven

Infiltrate and Assimilate
Advantages: A truly remarkable concept album Disadvantages: Leaves you pining after Part 2
Iced Earth are an American Power Metal band that formed way back in 1984. Originally calling themselves 'Purgatory', the band were forced to change their name by another group of the same name. Over the years, the band have gone through numerous line-up changes, with Jon Schaffer now remaining to be the only original member of the band. As the rhythm guitarist and songwriter, Schaffer is and always has been the central figure behind the band. Having ... ...both them support band Judas Priest, Schaffer just had to form his own band. 23 years on, the band are still going strong and the future is looking bright for Iced Earth.
This year saw the return of Iced Earth with 'Framing Armageddon-Something Wicked Part 1', their eighth studio album to date. This is the first of two albums 'weaving a thrilling Sci-Fi tale of mankind's invasion of Earth, the planet occupied by the direct descendants of the Grand ...

Melt in the Metal Inferno
Advantages: Fantastic guitars and vocals. Disadvantages: Second Cd doesn't live up to the first.
What an album this is! I'd never really had much confidence in Iced Earth as they always seemed to me like they went through singers like a couch potato through a bag of chips. But Matthew Barlow proves that he is the man for this band on this excellent album.
The album starts as it means to continue - a melodic intro leads into a blistering power metal assault of galloping rhythm guitars, screaming vocals and drums pounding fast and hard enough ... ...bands mettle in the best possible way, blazing a hard path to follow. The second CD, unfortunately, doesn't quite live up to the standard of the first, although it does contain the exquisitely sung Burnt Offerings, the bands anthem Iced Earth and the beast song they ever made, Dante's Inferno. Nonetheless, the rest of the second CD is fairly unremarkable.
Finally, for all those posers who accuse this band of being too "old school" this album should ...

Iced Earth meets Judas Priest
Advantages: amazing vocals, aggressive, sounds new and fresh Disadvantages: a few weaker tracks
...on their new release "The glorious burden". Replacing the much beloved Matth Barlow on the vocals was not an easy task, but I think this was the best thing that could happen to this band since Tim's amazing range and aggressive vocal delivery fits in my opinium better their music than Barlow voice. New to the band is also Ralph Santolla replacing Larry Tarnowski on the guitar.
This is a very patriotic album about the American history of war. The ... ..."Star sprangled banner" which is as you guessed the US national anthem, played with guitar and "military marching drums". The songs deal about subejcts such as 9/11, Gettysbury, Us Navvy etc. The 3 last track is a trilogy about the events in Gettysbury (The civil war) accomplished together with Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. These last three epic tracks are the most intresting due to the great work of the orcehestra and such instruments such as violins ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
