A classic is born
Advantages: One of the greatest heavy rock albums....ever Disadvantages: My stereo can't crank it up to 11!
When you want to consider the great heavy rock albums then this album needs to be considered. The songs are so powerful a number still turn up in the live set I saw last year, 26 years after the album was made!
The Album was released in 1979, and this was the first time I saw them live, and boy was that a show.
In 1979 when this was released, this probably had a claim on the heaviest album ever made (Though I think Motorhead might argue with that ... ...of a track, letting you know your dealing with an album of serious intent, that shows what a band at their peak can deliver. Rock Forever picks up the pace, and still gets me sort of headbanging even though I'm between 40 and 50!.
Evening Star and Before the Dawn are superb slower numbers, that give the album scope and depth. Take On the World with its driving solo drum sections, with the killer chant, 'put yourself in our hands, so our voices can ...

Metal Gods Of Hope And Glory
Advantages: Beautifully loud Disadvantages: Such bands' seem to be long forgotten..
...band create a piece of British rock history. The first track, 'Rapid Fire,' virtually says it all, if this isn't rock's interpretation of a dozen machine guns firing then I don't know what is. The speed of this band really is quite worrying. The pace is unimaginable, and I also don't agree that it is a good idea to visualize the band playing this track, you'll only make yourself sick. Complete with it's grinding factory like sound effects like an ... ...up on the pedestal of British rock. The only other true fore runner of the sound they pigeon holed between punk and progressive rock, was Iron Maiden. Both bands, it was true had us hypnotised by their leads, high pitched wails, unlike rivals, AC/DC who, had yet to hand over the microphone to an equally high creaming Young. Places like Donnington would not have ever been the same without them…
So, if the album title and the cover (picturing a razor ...

You want metal...here is your god
Advantages: A heavy metal bona fide classic, just try not liking this album. Disadvantages: If loud guitars and strong vovals aren't your thing, you may wan't to look elsewhere.
...still undoubtedly trying to emulate. British metal has never looked or sounded so good, and i doubt it will ever be back with the force and strength created in British Steel.

Rapid Fire
A good old classic metal song with great riffery and a beat to match. This is the kind of song that deserves to be plaid at full volume, and if you like metal you will be very willing to comply. The lyrics are justly British ...

Rage Against The Machine Album Review
Advantages: Hard, unconventional rock Disadvantages: An acquired taste
Rap-Metal group Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, but the music is just as relevant today as it was back then. Songs like 'Take the Power Back' and 'Freedom' are about individual exploitation by the cultural, social, and political systems in society, and how the people must be willing to rise up and overcome such oppression. You may have also recently heard about the small matter of 'Killing in the Name' beating ... ...when you first listen to Rage is that they mean business. The whole album is intended to provide voice to the silent minority: Those individuals that feel neglected and abused are given hope through the band's resonant, unashamed, confrontational expression. Guitarist Tom Morello's anomalous riffs, rhythmic special effects and extended tapping techniques were some of the most powerful sounds to come from a guitar in that era, and remain unchallenged ...
