Is Heavymetal dead ? - Hell NO!!

Advantages: classic sound, solid performance, proper mastering, outstanding vocals
Disadvantages: little new, only 52 mins, only 10 tracks,

Judas Priest has it's own history, but that's just how the most of the rock bands do, not mentioning heavy metal ones. With Rob Halford (one of very few artists who confessed their homosexuality not to mention even fewer in the world of heavy metal) on vocals with his incredibly vast potential, you can put this CD along with classics like Iron Maiden or Deep Purple, bringing back old school of archetypal rock where playing technique ...
...and more influence of digital sound processing before the music itself reaches the fans, but "Angel of Retribution" has its raw but at the same time genuine feel of leather and iron, let me put it this way. This is classic heavy metal, like this back in the days, when you were reading timeless magazine with the same title and enjoyed work of Luis Royo and Boris Vallejo and when the brand of certain motorbike was considered almost God-made... it is ...

Live (ish !)

Advantages: Great tunes
Disadvantages: overdubs !

The legend that surrounds this album is not so much about the playing or songs but about the amount of studio overdubbing that was added later ! The truth finally transpired that it was onlt the vocals that were re done and that the whole gig's vocals were done live in Ringo Starr's living room ! Apartf rom teh numerous stories surrounding it , its not a bad album at all. Most of their best songs to that date, a decent production (!) and tight enough ...

Mixed Opinions

Advantages: Some good tracks
Disadvantages: New sound used that doesn't fit Priest

There is a lot of controversy about ‘Turbo’ by Judas Priest. Many Priest fans who prefer the original heavy sound despise it with a passion, but it has also created many new fans who like the new sound that they decided to try. Personally I don’t mind the album but it is there are certainly better tracks to be found in the Judas Priest collection. Some of my favourite tracks on the album are: ‘Locked In’, purely because it is quite heavy compared ...
...it seems to be more like traditional Priest tracks than most of Turbo’s tracks. ‘Reckless’, this isn’t a normal Priest track but I just like the whole way it is played with high guitar bits and solo’s however I still think that Rob Halford should use the power in his voice to its full extent as not many people have such a great singing ability as him but he doesn’t always use use it. Overall I don’t mind this album and I am feeling generous so ...

It's Judas Priest with a twist

Advantages: It's different to anything else released by the band, therefore deserves a listen
Disadvantages: maybe alienate a few fans

This is a very difficult album to review for me... the Priest were one of the first metal bands I became a fan of back in my teen days in 1978, so I've been with them every step of the way for the last 30 years now. Over that time they've released several classic albums... Stained Class, Killing Machine, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, Painkiller, and even the last album 'Angel Of Retribution'. They've also stuck out a couple of average albums... ...
...new one... heck, this one had me stumped from the day they announced the concept (what were they thinking of?), until I actually bought it and gave it a few listens. Based loosely on the life and prophecies of Nostradamus, it's a double CD. A lot of it sounds like your typical Judas Priest material, but a lot of it is far from it. There are many pieces of music that 'link' the main songs, and these contain things you would not normally associate ...

A classic is born

Advantages: One of the greatest heavy rock albums....ever
Disadvantages: My stereo can't crank it up to 11!

When you want to consider the great heavy rock albums then this album needs to be considered. The songs are so powerful a number still turn up in the live set I saw last year, 26 years after the album was made! The Album was released in 1979, and this was the first time I saw them live, and boy was that a show. In 1979 when this was released, this probably had a claim on the heaviest album ever made (Though I think Motorhead might argue with that ...
...of a track, letting you know your dealing with an album of serious intent, that shows what a band at their peak can deliver. Rock Forever picks up the pace, and still gets me sort of headbanging even though I'm between 40 and 50!. Evening Star and Before the Dawn are superb slower numbers, that give the album scope and depth. Take On the World with its driving solo drum sections, with the killer chant, 'put yourself in our hands, so our voices can ...
