hello destiny - goodbye goldfinger
Review of Hello Destiny - Goldfinger by
techno_man_37
Advantages: a few good songs
Disadvantages: nowhere near as good as their old stuff
Iv always been a fan of goldfinger and it had been a while since the release of a new album prior to this one being released. I had been looking forward to a new album as i really liked their new-ish material and thought that the band were getting better and better.
When this one came out I downloaded it straight away, I had already listened to a few songs they released on myspace before the release and enjoyed these so I was looking forward to ... ...are only a few good songs on their and some that i just cant stand to listen to. A few of the good songs are really good, though it feels a little bit rushed and a bit like all the songs are of different kind of genres.
I put this down to the return of the guitarist who previously left the band as he liked metal music and not punk.
He has seemed to have some influence in some of the songs and I feel has let the band down.
If you did like this ...

Hybrid Theory... Nu Metal Heaven
Review of Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park by
jedsaint
Advantages: Fantastic!
Disadvantages: None spring to mind
Linkin Park's debut album, littered with crunching riffs and memorable lyrics commands the listener to mosh along. There are no other options! There are few words capable of describing this Nu Metallic work of art other than astounding. The other words within my vocabulary that could do the job are unsuitable for minors.
'Hybrid Theory' is such a great album, especially when reflected on today. It was the foundation of a great band's success and ...

You'll fall in love with this album
Review of Art Of Drowning, The - AFI by
Raef86
Advantages: Inventive lyrics, powerful sounds
Disadvantages: No lyrics for the hidden track
This album is possibly the defining moment of AFI's career. They showed that abstract, poetic lyrics CAN be combined with powerful choruses and AFI-trademark chords plus crashing cymbals.
If you're buying this as a surprise present for an 'AFI fan', I suggest you check that they haven't already got it, as most people's love for the band is born out of hearing this album [the CD prior to this - Black Sails In the Sunset - and the CD following it ...

Ram-Zet, Awesome Band
Review of Intra - Ram-Zet by
Strawberrygashesgirl
Advantages: Good Songs on this Album
Disadvantages: Nothing at all!
This is the second album of Ram-Zet that I purchased. I have to admit upon first hearing them I kinda thought - what the hell is this weirdness? I listened to them a bit more though and have really got into them, they have a gothic/phsycadellic/metal kind of style, and the female vocalist has an awesome voice which makes the whole thing very unique.
I think thier style is very different to anything I've heard before, so they are now in my top favourites! ... ...listen to them the more I seem to like them.
This is probably my second favourite album that they have released, my first would have to be "Escape" which is not found on this website's search for some reason.
They don't play over in england as far as I know which is a real shame, I would love to see them live ^^ ...

The Tide Has Swept In An 80s Throwback
Review of Light From Above (Parental Advisory) - Black Tide by
RazzaLazza
Advantages: The guitar work is quite strong, instrumentally impressive.
Disadvantages: The sound has been done better before, vocal performance lacks passion.
'Light From Above' is the début album from the American thrash metal band that is Black Tide. Black Tide is a band that sounds like your stereotypical 80s heavy metal/thrash metal band; nothing new at all is presented in the music here, and everything that is done was put to record far better than this over 20 years ago. As an album of 2008 'Light From Above' is not exactly a great album; a couple of decades back I'm sure the bands sound would have ... ...this style of sound over the years however there's just nothing new for Black Tide to offer as a band. Twelve tracks are present here; eleven originals and one cover of the Metallica track 'Hit The Lights'. The album has a run time of 49 minutes, and if you have a strong love for 80s heavy metal then you may well like what you hear here; the album offers nothing new, the music is however fairly well done at times.
There are some strong guitar solos ...
