Blizzard of Ozz was Ozzy Osbourne's first album following his split from Black Sabbath. Following being sacked from Black Sabbath, Ozzy was in a mess, living in a hotel and trying to drink and snort himself in to oblivion - Sharon Osbourne who would eventually become his wife, decided to get him back on track and from the brink of destruction, the depressive Ozzy got his stuff together and recorded this rather enjoyable album. The only thing that this album really has in common with his earlier work of Black Sabbath is Ozzy's voice, although it does tend to stay in the top rangeof his voice for much of it. Opeth - Ghost Reveries

Advantages: amazing musicianship, beautiful songs/vocals
Disadvantages: sucks to be you if you don't have this CD already!

...album they put out. Ghost Reveries is excellent from the minute it starts all the way until the end. Anyone familiar with Opeth's unique approach to songwriting and musicianship will not be let down with this album. It is intensely heavy and dark throughout and also is soft and melodic when it needs to be. The production quality is top notch on this record and the overall tone is subperb. The album kicks off with the classic Opeth death metal style ...
...groovy progressive song with great breakdowns and acoustic parts. The album continues on with a couple of great heavy/progressive songs. Hours of Wealth is one of the most beautiful pieces Opeth has ever done and will bring a tear to your eye. I would recommend this album to everyone who loves Opeth (if you do you probably already have this album!) and to anyone who is just a music lover in general. Ozzy mania

Advantages: Ozzy at his lyrical best, teamed up with Wylde. Nostalgic!
Disadvantages: Very few. Still, doesnt beat his previous work.

Although Black Rain doesn't have a very original name, (considering that there's two novels, a Japanese movie, an American movie, a German music label and a Dark Lotus music album with the same title) the sounds are still absolutely original. Review of Black Rain - Ozzy Osbourne

Another triumph of progressive metal

Advantages: Gives great appreciation for all styles of music
Disadvantages: if you just want Opeth's heavier stuff, you will be disappointed.

I have eagerly awaited the release of this album as I did with Ghost Reveries and it's predecessor. After Ghost Reveries, I did not know what to expect as that album included pretty much every style and influence of music into all of the songs. So let's look at which genres are included in most Opeth albums: Blast beating death metal ..... Check Classical guitar ....check classic rock.... check grunge .... check pop music ..... check jazz .... ...
...on.... And this is what I love about Opeth, to me they are primarily a metal band, but they open your mind to every other style of music and artistic expression. So onto this album Watershed, it ticks all the boxes for meshing all different types of genres into their signature sound and I think this album surpasses their other albums.
