Stranger in Us All.
Advantages: Superb incorporation of classical scales into Rock, great riffs and leads. Disadvantages: Rainbow's last album
Ritchie Blackmore, (creator of one of the most famous rock riffs - Smoke on the Water) after shuttling between Deep Purple (1965 - 1974, 1984 - 1994) and Rainbow (1975-1984,1994-1997) came up with this brilliant Album during his second stint with Rainbow, featuring vocalist Doogie White of Scottish Origin.
Blackmore uses a scalloped fretboard with wood shaved of b/w frets meaning that he plays with a light touch, resulting in a furious pace. This ... ...opener Wolf to the Moon which starts of with a signature fast paced Blackmore Riff. Doogie White, proves that his recruitment by Blackmore into the band is no stroke of luck.
The entire album has ritchie blackmore's classical influence portrayed in great style with some neat riffs. With the album of to a great start with the fast paced Wolf to the Moon, (which would also be a great concert opener), the next song Cold Hearted Woman marks the beginning ...

This is how it should be
Advantages: A good collection of Thunder tracks Disadvantages: sound compromised compared to studio tracks
This album is everything that LIVE classic rock should be.
Thunders frontman/singer Danny Bowes delivers a stonking performance unrivalled by today teenie rockers.Ther rest of the band are: Gary "Harry" Janes - Drums, Luke Morley - Guitar/Harmonica, Ben Matthews - Guitar/keyboards, and Chris Childs - Bass.
Thunder was formed from the ashes of another great band - Terraplane - in 1989. The band are from London and surrounding districts.
Having ... ...a good representation of a live Thunder gig, the atmosphere translates well to the CD and it is the next best thing to being there.
This is a double CD, with 22 live tracks.
The tracklist includes well-known favourites, from the Back Street Symphony era, such as "Dirty Love" and "She's so fine", through the powerful "Does it feel like love?" and the haunting "Low life in high places" to the scorching "Gimme some lovin'".
The general feel of this ...

Laughing All The Way
Advantages: A great album Disadvantages: If not quite as good as their debut
Thunder’s second album, 1992’s “Laughing on Judgement Day” showcases everything that made Thunder great. There are some wonderful up-tempo rock/pop songs, a ballad that seems to make your heart beg for mercy, and some of the band’s trademark humour. The title itself is an indication of the band’s whole attitude to life – if you’re not laughing, then you’re not living. The album cover itself is pretty stunning. Weird, but wonderful, if you like. I’m ... ...was their first album cover by Storm Thorgerson who, with a company called Hipgnosis, designed about 16 album covers for Pink Floyd, and also worked on album covers for Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Genesis. He also designed the cover for Thunder’s third album, “Behind Closed Doors”, which was the best thing about it. Hiring Storm Thorgerson was, I think, and indicator of where Thunder wanted to be, and an attempt to show a new found maturity, ...

I hate......slow songs.....oh yeah
Advantages: Good grief it's loud Disadvantages: It won't be for everyone
Kyuss were a band from Southern California, who where one of a number of very heavy US rock bands getting a break in the post-Nirvana era. Nowadays they are more famous for having spawned Queens Of The Stone Age, because guitarist Josh Homme and bassist/singer Nick Oliveri went on to form that band and had huge success with it too. Here though in 1992, together with drummer Brant Bjork and lead singer John Garcia, they put down a blueprint for what ... ...rock is just very heavy rock music taken even further by the post-grunge favoured method of downtuning guitars and slowing it all down to neanderthal beats. Josh Homme takes it even a step more heavier by playing lead guitar through a 400 watt bass head, giving a very distorted and throbbing distinctive sound. The band became very popular at twilight desert concerts, where the youth would gather around car headlights, listen to their music and presumably ...

Heard a sound like a backstreet symphony
Advantages: Awesome vocals Disadvantages: None
I'm a person that LOVES vocalists with amazingly powerful voices, and Danny Bowes has just that. From the remnants of Terraplane, Thunder came along and blew everyone away. The screamish, deep vocals and the heavy guitar are something that set Thunder apart from other bands. This has to be my favourite album from them because I love every single song on the album, and that really doesn't happen often. Firstly, 'She's So Fine' comes on and it is definately ... ...great guitar opening and then you're hit with the insane vocals. 'Dirty Love' appears after this and has to be my favourite, it has a line-dancing kind of beat to it which would normally put me off, but this just makes it easier to get in to. The ballad of the album has to be, 'Don't Wait For Me' it's a powerful ballad that adds a different tone to the album. 'Backstreet Symphony' is definately a great track, really keeps the high standard of work ...
