The Best of The Guana Batz
Review of Very Best Of Guana Batz, The - Guana Batz (The) by leopard_gurl

Advantages: This best of comes with two cd's! One disc is live. You get more for your money.
Disadvantages: There arent any!

This album is a must for anyone diving into the big bad world of psychobilly; this album includes an excellent choice of songs by the Guana Batz and includes a live disc which has a few covers by the Stray Cats and Cliff Richard! I urge you to buy this album, as all the songs are solid; this is a real psycho band to get yer teeth into! You get your fast, raging songs with (excellent double bass playing may I add) to your slower, more acoustic rock ...
...hasn't got a bad track and becomes increasingly enjoyable the more you listen. This album cannot fail you, whether you're listening to the live or studio tracks! The live tracks are excellent, fabulous recording, almost better than the studio tracks. There isn't a bad word to say about this album. ... Read review

The Meteors
Review of These Evil Things - Meteors (The) by sables666

Advantages: Very good for the ears
Disadvantages: crap if your not into Psycobilly

Only been into Psycobilly for a short while, but The Meteors seem to the best about. Past tracks like The wrecking crew will always be an anthem for this type of music. this album is keeping in the style and even a bit more roar. The Meteors are better known for there live act but to keep up with demand they release an album or two over time. and this is deffinatly going to be up there at the top of rockabilly charts if there was such a thing. the ... A fantastic album
Review of Consign To Oblivion (+DVD) - Epica by demonbarak

Advantages: Brilliant singer, awesome band
Disadvantages: a little busy at times

Ok, so most of you are wondering who the hell Epica are. Thats unimportant really, compared to what they do. But still, a little background. Epica are a dutch band, with a young female singer - 18 i think when this was released. They have the obligatory keyboard player, a screaming guitarist, bass and insane drummer - and then the difference. An orchestra. And a choir. Something a little new then! Initial impressions here were... mixed. It took ...
...its all put together, though once i wrapped my mind around it there was a glorious sound coming from my stereo. The tracks on this CD range from purely instrumental through to almost death metal in places, and a wide range inbetween - theres the ballad (Quietus) to the madness of Seif Al Din, this album just won't stop spinning in your player - its something for all the family! The only downside is that the audio can be a little busy at times - ... Read review

A new way forward...
Review of Century Child - Nightwish by demonbarak

Advantages: Entrancing
Disadvantages: none!

Where to begin.... I suppose this is the album that REALLY launched Nightwish for me. Until this album, including the fantastic Phantom of the Opera, was released, Nightwish were just another band in my collection. This album was just such a fresh breeze it was incredible. So, what made it different for me? Oh so many things! The return of the male vocalist, in the form of new bassist Marco (bassist and lead singer of Tarot) gave the band a new ...
...of something that was no doubt brought about by tarjas opera trained voice... its a long long list! The album flows smoothly from one song to the next, each different, yet comfortably similar at teh same time. All the way from Bless the Child through to the bonus tracks at the end of the disk you want to just turn it up, and listen to the powerful rhythms, stunning lyrics and mindboggling drumbeats that characterise Nightwish ... New Era, New Singer, Same fantastic quality
Review of Dark Passion Play - Nightwish by demonbarak

Advantages: read review
Disadvantages: read review

I waited for this album with bated breath - would it still be nightwish without Tarja? Happily, the answer is YES!!! When a new nightwish album comes out I tend to listen to it quite a few times - just to get the feel for it - and there's usually a couple of duff tracks on it. No such thing with this album! All the way from the 14 minute "monstrosity" (a quote from Jukka) Poet and the Pendulum, through to the fantastic Sahara, this album just delivers ...
...new albums through is the "friend" test. And so far, even the metal hating friends have loved it. Anette has delivered the impossible - the album was written without her in mind, and she's easily matched the distinctive Tarja, around who the previous albums have all been written. So, what else can I tell you about the album? Well, as always, its a quality production - totally clear sound, fantasticly mixed and powerful all the way from the bass ... Read review
