I Knew Iowa Was Cold But...
Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: Nothing specific
Taking its name from the band’s home state, “Iowa” came as the second album from the Alternative Metal band SlipKnot in 2001. The band, who had a largely unchanged line-up this time when compared to what was seen with their 1999 debut, come with more hardcore Nu-Metal, and do so during the peak years of the sub-genres duration in the Alternative Metal game. 1. “(515)” (Intro) 2. “People = S**t” After a rather dark, scream-filled introduction, we ... ...is bound to excite their fans as they come out with a burst of Rap metal that is seen to be a bit of a development from where they began things with their debut as they take on additional influences in order to help to put their message across in a manner that seems to fit in with the rage that they come out with in their music. **Five Stars** 3. “Disasterpiece” The pace is lifted, along with the intensity, and I felt that it was nice to give a relevant ...

Die by the Sword!
Advantages: Fantastic album with consistent tracks, good lyrics, very melodic guitar playing. Disadvantages: A bit poor production, other than that..I dunno.?
For those who may not know: NWOBHM = New Wave of British Heavy Metal. :) 'Show No Mercy' is a fantastic album that is often over-looked by their most popular album that sold millions 'Reign in Blood'. Those who only concentrate on the only album is themselves losing out; as this is a fantastically solid album with 10 songs based pure speed/thrash with hints of NWOHBM. They refined this album as aggressive NWOHBM; which then lead to the ... ...might find it lacking in raw power/aggressiveness, they will find that instead interesting song-writing, great melodic solos and catchy riffs. Band Members Tom Araya : Vocals, bass Jeff Hanneman : Guitars Kerry King : Guitars Dave Lombardo : Drums The opening song 'Evil Has No Boundaries', this song is so utterly memorable; this is where the newcomer begins to realise the intensity, the speed, the brutal clean thrash style vocals ...

Scorpions And Their Metal Crazy World
Advantages: Good example of Scorpions' brand of Euro-metal Disadvantages: The metal purist might be a little picky
...perhaps reached its' apex with Crazy World, the 1990 release by Scorpions, a band whose pedigree has provenance without question. You see, Rudolf Schenker, guitarist for Scorpions, is the brother of metal guitar maven Michael Schenker, the tremendously talented lead guitarist for the seminal Euro-metal band UFO. In fact, after Michael mysteriously left UFO back in the early days, he surfaced with Scorpions for a brief time, before returning to the ... ...band, UFO. 10. Crazy World--The title track, of course, and the big power chords set up an irresistable riff that the other players cavort off of. Klaus Meine's lead vocals are particularly arresting, and the lead guitar licks remind me a little of Randy Rhoads. 11. Send Me An Angel--Sort of a restrained ballad--it has a little of a gloomy tone, but the vocals are beautiful, and the keyboards by a sessions player really compliment the sound of Scorpions. ...

Under a pale grey sky we shall Arise
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: None
...recorded outside their homeland Brazil. Arise is Sepultura’s fourth full-length album, and a superb one at that.
The first track titled “Arise” starts off with a selection of strange, eerie sounds for 28 seconds, and then launches into good, heavy riffing. Max’s voice is angry as usual, although his lyrics are easier to make out in this album, as apposed to the previous three. “Arise” in my opinion is about the problems of wartime, the destruction ... ...“Dead Embryonic Cells” seems to be about the pain of being born into a world taken over by corruption and violence. Although it is not one of the major songs, “Murder” is one of my favourites. The riffs are good, lyrics and vocals and excellent, and as with most Sepultura songs, has a good little solo.
Like “Chaos AD”, this too will grow on you. Since it is one of Sepultura’s finer releases, you will find that it is good in everyway. The vocals, ...

One of the best
Advantages: It is where modern Sepultura came from Disadvantages: It is hard work if your not used to it
Beneath the remains is one of my favorite Sepultura albums. It starts off with the song "Beneath the remains", a very mellow sounding acoustic guitar intro which lulls you into a false sense of security before one of the fastest riffs ever kicks off. A song you really need to listen to to get the point of. Sepultura were at there most ferocious during this record and you really need to be used to the vocals of Max Cavalera to understand the songs. ... ...and war, a subject Sepultura often seem to write about but always seem to put a across well. The other memorable song is Mass Hypnosis, which, when I've seen them live is one the crowd are always shouting for and always get!
Stronger than hate, Slaves of pain and Primitive future are all good songs on this album and anyone listening to current Sepultura or Soulfly recordings needs to get hold of this. ...
