Non-so-Tragic Kingdom
Advantages: Brilliant varied tracks with great No Doubt retroness! Disadvantages: Maybe a bit retro for the lesser fan
...to lead you into the Tragic Kingdom where the lyrics are spread around inside. Great cover
Great lyrics
Great songs
Great variation!
A great original No Doubt album that for any fan would appreciate. True authentic No Doubt! Brilliant.
God I love this album!
I can't remember how much I paid for the album it was 10 years ago but I think its around about £5.99 to £9.99
Track Listing and Duration:
----1. Spider webs (4.28)----
Great start to ... ...to slow beats
-----14. Tragic Kingdom (5.31)-----
Wow! This track tops it off so well.
I mean it does have some lyrics that are a bit weird, about a Kingdom that has been locked up and hidden and lost from the world that is relightened, paying homage to a king, the drawbridge opened, a bit mythical really. Starts off with dialog of an aeroplane tannoy.
The music is dramatic after that and the lyrics are wicked, all about destiny and the lost ...

Consistent High Energy Album
Advantages: Catchy, High Energy, Poetic Disadvantages: Not the best vocals
...the California based punk legends and will probably always be my favorite Ranicd album. It is consistently catchy and energizing from the first song to the last, and definately contains some of their best hits such as "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho". The lyrics are meaningful and nostalgic, commemorating lost friends, fun times with past band members, and memories of growing up together. Tim Armstrong, the lead singer and main songwriter, shows himself ... ...as "As Wicked" and "Junkie Man" which both tell stories of people living tough lives. While a stunning voice had never been one of Tim's strengths, the catchy chorus lines and poetic lyrics seem to make up for anything lacked in vocals and he still manages to carry a tune. His raspy voice almost seems fitting as he sings of gritty life in the city and the hardships of growing up. In conclusion, if you enjoy good songwriting or are looking for a fun ...

Not ska, but still amazing.
Advantages: Cheerful, catchy, clear non-stupid lyrics. Disadvantages: Most tracks are not ska in the slightest.
...hears them, as well as in a vocal range easy enough for the majority to sing along to. There are also several opportunities to pretend to know the lyrics 'waaahh ohhhhhhh'.
The tracks are still pretty fast, as is typical for a ska band, but the tunes are now caught in the guitars, rather than the brass. However the last track 'P.S Shock The World' seems to be Less Than Jake returning to their ska roots.
For the hardcore ska-only fan, this Less ...

The Return
Advantages: Great Hits Once again 2 BONUS TRACKS! Disadvantages: none
...with their forth album entitled Return Of Saturn, although a strange title, this album is once again crammed with hits! This was the second album of No Doubts that I bought which included the great come-back single "New" which is a great fast dance type rock track which is still one of my all time faves! Follow-ups to the return single failed to impress or make it into the top 10. Other releases included Simple Kind Of Life and Marry Me both good ... ...in the charts, heralds a return for the band which hopefully will keep on churning out pure tracks like this again. Lets hope for a new album soon! This finally completes my opinions on all four albums by No Doubt! I hope I have done them justice. They are fantastic with sublime and thought provoking lyrics, they can't do no wrong! READ THIS! If you have the album or I have Persuaded you to get this one, Leave the CD play after the bonus track (15) ...

Rancid. The only word for it.
Advantages: Very Few Disadvantages: Very Many
...met with a mixed reception, Rancid decided to return to a more hardcore sound, ditching the reggae-infused sound that had become associated with them thanks to Life Won't Wait. Instead of coming up with a name for the record, the group decided to make it a self-titled effort. What made this strange was the fact that the group's debut album, released almost a decade prior, was also self-titled. Thus, to avoid to confusion between records, this latest ... ...times of the songs. If Rancid wanted to distance themselves from being pop-punks, this was the best way to do it, only this just proves they don't know how to write 'heavier', or 'non-mainstream' songs. The songs can be broken into 3 categories, unimaginabley bad, bad in a boring way and even the occasional half-decent song. Fitting in the first category is the opener, it's follow up Disgruntled, which showcases the vocal talents of the two guitarists ...
