Review of Live - Thunder

Heard a sound like a backstreet symphony

Advantages: Awesome vocals
Disadvantages: None

I'm a person that LOVES vocalists with amazingly powerful voices, and Danny Bowes has just that. From the remnants of Terraplane, Thunder came along and blew everyone away. The screamish, deep vocals and the heavy guitar are something that set Thunder apart from other bands. This has to be my favourite album from them because I love every single song on the album, and that really doesn't happen often. Firstly, 'She's So Fine' comes on and it is definately ...
...great guitar opening and then you're hit with the insane vocals. 'Dirty Love' appears after this and has to be my favourite, it has a line-dancing kind of beat to it which would normally put me off, but this just makes it easier to get in to. The ballad of the album has to be, 'Don't Wait For Me' it's a powerful ballad that adds a different tone to the album. Laughing All The Way

Advantages: A great album
Disadvantages: If not quite as good as their debut

Thunder’s second album, 1992’s “Laughing on Judgement Day” showcases everything that made Thunder great. There are some wonderful up-tempo rock/pop songs, a ballad that seems to make your heart beg for mercy, and some of the band’s trademark humour. I Got My Scandinavian Leather On

It starts off with Blizzard of Flames a easy listening intro and then straight into the first track "Wipe it Till it Bleeds" which has a relentless repetitive guitar riff which lifts you up and you just know that this is what Rock and Roll is all about. ...Sound to another level. "Sell Your Body to The Night" which has an incredibly sleazy stoogiesesque riff. The nihilistic lyrical sentiment of "Drenched in Blood", "Ride with Us" and "Turbonegro Must Be Destroyed", but this is more than just a punk rock album. Disadvantages: Misses the trademark humour

...I'm not too displeased to have paid full price for the album. If the ending of this one and the evolution of the sound from "Giving the Game Away" to "Shooting at the Sun" to "The Magnificent Seventh" is to continue, then the next album is going to be immense! ...
