...of a simple piano melody being played time and time again. The background has a gentle techno beat with occasional synth noises along with a constant thump of the toms of the drums. This gradually builds up into a movement of excellence and leaves you hanging for the next song. 2. Glasgow Mega Snake (3.34) This is possibly one of Mogwai's heaviest songs considering its only 3 minutes long. From start to end it is based around guitar riffs yet isnt hard on the ear, with a louder, heavier tone for the chorus. A great song, so popular it will be on the Tony Hawk's Project 8 computer game, one of the most popular games around. 3. Acid Food (3.41) This song is a complete change. Advantages: A tumultuous journey through emotion and sound

...After Mogwai's debut ‘Mogwai Young Team’ caused somewhat of a stir in post-rock circles and the music press, their follow-up ‘Come On Die Young (CODY)’ had quite a billing to live up to. It sold remarkably well (for a post-rock album), denting the Album Top 40. It also received mainly glowing reviews. If you can bring yourself to open your mind to something other than verse-chorus-verse-chorus formulaic ‘popular’ music then you’ll be able to appreciate this album. Mogwai are able to bring emotion into their songs, a feat which often eludes their peers. Their music sweeps and glides. It wouldn’t be fair to pinpoint one specific track-they’re all fantastic.... Advantages: great rifts

...Mogwai’s second offering is Come on Die young, this too is the name of a Glaswegian gang like the debut album young team. The album and the band are famous for their lack of lyrics but their rifts and drumbeats make up for this in full. Cody is particularly good with a slow progressive build up that is sublime to listen to. Punk rock is the opening track and features lyrics from david bowie. The album ends with a remix of this tune which is aimed as an insult at puff daddy equating him to an antichrist, they also wore T-shirts saying ‘Blur are shite’, spot on then... Read review
