Head On - Bachman-Turner Overdrive

Not fragile? Rock solid!

Advantages: Features some amazing classic tracks
Disadvantages: Urm...There aren't any!

To begin with i must say that I have the vinyle version of this not the CD, also it was given to me as a christmas present so I paid nothing for it. Having said that, I'll assue that the track list is very similar (if not identical) and just so you know I would pay twice the RRP if I ever had to buy it again (seriously, it's that good!). Now a bit of background info: Bachman-Turner Overdrive released their debut under that name in 1973 with Randy and Tim Bachman on guitars on vocals, Fred Turner on bass and vocals, and the third Bachman brothet, Rob, on drums. This line-up remained for their next album ("Bachman-Turner Overdrive ) and carried on until 1974. At this point, Tim Bachman left the band for other musical pursuits, leaving a gap on lead guitar which was then to be filled by Blair Thornton. The new line-up recorded "Not ...

Review of Not Fragile - Bachman-Turner Overdrive

Great Overdrive!!!

Advantages: Strong build, good tube overdrive
Disadvantages: overdrive limited

I purchased The Bad Monkey from a shop in Denmark Street London and it cost me around £40. The first thing i noticed about this pedal was its solid construction, its metal and strong! you could drop this from a skyscraper and i bet it would still be in one piece lol well maybe not but you get what i'm saying :) The pedal has four nobs..level (volume) ,low(bass), high (treble) and gain (overdrive) and thats pretty much it but that all you really need on a good overdrive pedal. The Bad Monkey gives a nice WARM tube overdrive tone that resembles some of the tubescreamers out there but i believe the clarity of this pedal is better! By that i mean that when the gain is up to the max you can still hear every individual string ring out which is really nice and clear but with great overdrive! Review of Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive

Truely awsome and underated Overdrive pedal

Advantages: Analog overdrive circuitry, vintage overdrive tone, great as a channel booster
Disadvantages: Battery life isn't great

digitized sound that you get from a lot of "overdrive" pedals. It does keep your guitars tone intact too, also unlike many "overdrive" pedals. The pedal has 4 controls and 2 output jacks (amp out for guitar amps, and a emulated cabinet out for recording, etc.); Level - control the output of the pedal, so you could have that cranked up to physically overdrive your amp if you wanted. Low - this is a tone crafting control, you can use it to cut or boost the bass response of the "tube". High - another tone crafting control, used to cut or boost the high frequencies and in turn controls the harmonics of the "tube". Gain - just another gain knob... go from a subtle crunch to a much heavier crunch. Though not in the "heavy" sense of the word. Now this pedal doesn't have a huge amount of gain to it.
