Advantages: Great previous series Disadvantages: Comnig up to its expiry date!
Heartbeat is a weekly program shown every Sunday at 8pm on ITV. (Channel 3) This last week gone was unfortunately the last in the series but I'm sure the next series will be out soon and I hope just as good. Heartbeat is one of the longest showing TV programs that I've known, it has been around for years and years but has only recently grabbed the attention of the millions of people in our country. The drama was aimed at older people, a police drama set in the small village of Aidensfield out in the countryside but recently I've realised the program has become more of an interest to younger people like myself. Instead of talking about Eastenders and Brookie, many people have turned to Heartbeat! Just how un-real can it get!
The program which is a 60's drama set in Aidensfield, a lovely set but unfortunately the village Aidensfield ...
Advantages: excellent stories, good strong characters Disadvantages: Claude Greengrass has gone!
Since PC Nick Rowan (played by Nick Berry) graced our screens several years ago I was immeadeatley addicted to Sunday nights television through the winter months.
The program had excellent story lines based around the North Yorkshire dales, a beautiful part of the country.
Set in the late 1960's everything has been reproduced to make it the most authentic looking it could ever be.
Fine detail such as the money, the cars, and the excellent music have all been added to Heartbeat to make it so realistic.
Aidensfield is a small village up in the dales, where just about every type of rogue and villain travels to by the look of it, which makes Heartbeat much more watchable.
There are really strong characters in this show, namley Claude Greengrass, unfortunatley you will only see him in the re-runs on uk gold as he has been ...

Introduction
I doubt there are many people these days who have not heard of Heartbeat. It is now, I think, in its tenth series and still going fairly strong. However, I'm sure many people don't know, as I didn't, that the series was based on the books of a real life Yorkshire policeman, Nicholas Rhea. These books feature Constable Nick Rhea (name changed to Rowan in the TV series), who has a wife called Mary (to become Kate) who is a housewife (not a doctor), and some of the characters are different, but the gist of the stories is the same.
The author
Nicholas Rhea, real name Peter Walker, retired in 1982 after 30 years of service and concentrated on writing novels based on his experience of being a police officer in Yorkshire. His books came to the attention of a Yorkshire television producer, who decided to create a TV series ...
The Cars: Ric Ocasek (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Ben Orr (vocals, bass); Elliot Easton (guitar, background vocals); Greg Hawkes (keyboards, background vocals); David Robinson (drums, percussion). Recorded at Battery Studios, London, England. Coming off the 1981 hit album and single SHAKE IT UP, the Cars took the next few years off to pursue other areas of interest (Ric Ocasek released his '82 solo debut, BEATITUDE) and record it's follow-up. Buoyed by the high-gloss production sheen of Robert John "Mutt" Lange, HEARTBEAT CITY yielded such hit singles/videos as the the moody, transcendent "Drive," the poppy, almost ELO-like "Magic," and "You Might Think," which hews closest to the band's previous work. Though the band peaked artistically in 1980 with PANORAMA, this was the Cars' commercial pinnacle. Both "You Might Think" and "Magic" were anthems for the summer of 1984, while "Hello Again" showed that the band could still be quirky and achieve chart success.
