It seems Oasis are one of those bands who have fallen into the trap of setting standards so high with the early albums, that they subsequently can't meet them, and all their new work is written off as a poor effort. Heathen Chemistry, having been released in 2005, falls perfectly into this category. Upon first release, it didn't measure up to Definitely Maybe or (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, and was, in a way, regarded as a failure because of it.
Is this fair, though? Do people only see it as a weak album because they're comparing it to masterpieces? Personally, I feel if the majority of current bands had released something this good, it would have been the jewel in their crown. It isn't quite perfect, but it certainly deserves a chance.

misplaced on Def Maybe or Morning Glory. Liam's voice is beautiful. Not much else I can say about this other than if you were looking for a reason to buy Heathen Chemistry, this does no harm whatsoever to it. 9/10.
Songbird - Liam written, Liam sung. Short and sweet at two minutes three seconds. It's (as Noel once said) a song about his bird. Simple as. Released as a single and went straight in at number one. If you are feeling happy, listen to this. 8.5/10.
Little By Little - If you miss out Songbird then Stop Crying... and this are basically the same thing. Except Noel sings it and it is slightly more uplifting. I am half guessing that the song is about someone who was given everything and mucked it up big time. Big, big, big tune. 8/10.
