On the corner? On the edge I'd say Review of On The Corner [Remastered] - Miles Davis by graememt Advantages: Some of the best funk grooves ever laid onto tape Disadvantages: Very little variety on the tracks ...they are extended jams that segue into various sections with different feels and grooves. If you want melody and memorable hooks, this is not for you. This is an album of rhythm with more percussion than I have ever heard in a "jazz" setting: hand claps, finger clips, lots of drums and a heavy as hell bass that holds the whole thing together. Miles and co improvise over the resulting grooves but their efforts are almost a subtext to what is basically very "below the waist" music making. Released in 1972 this is a natural progression from the late sixties fusion offerings that Miles had given us with the likes of "Bitches Brew" and "Filles de Kilimanjaro" but it has that distinctive seventies sound, reminding one more of Sly and the Family Stone (which Miles had been greatly influenced by) than anything from his back catalogue. Highway Stars! Review of Made In Japan - Deep Purple by chrisfisherman Advantages: 7 great songs Disadvantages: sometimes hard to hear some lyrics ...The CD, Made In Japan is in my opinion the best CD that Deep Purple have released. The tracks are taken from three concerts in August 1972 which took place in Osaka and Tokyo. The songs on the CD are Highway Star, Child In Time, Smoke On The Water, The Mule, Strange Kind Of Woman, Lazy and Space Truckin'. For me, the songs are better towards the beginning of the CD although you will never get tired of any of them. This is a must buy CD for all Deep Purple fans. If you are in to heavy rock and have not experienced the sounds of Deep Purple, this would be a good CD to buy to sample their music.... floorfillers anthems Review of Floorfillers Anthems - Various Artists by honeyham Advantages: best of the floorfillers releases Disadvantages: one or two unliked tracks ...i bought this three disc album expecting only one disc to be any good with all the rememorable tracks on,but after listening to it i really like all three discs. i listen to it regular and if you like all the older songs by fat boy slim, 2 unlimited. jamiroqai, moloko, snap etc you will enjoy this. sixty five tracks of classics and recent like daniel beddingfield meck and sayer and many more . you will always get an album where there are one or two songs you dislike this is no different but the majority of it is good old dance anthems. I would go as far to say the best of the floorfillers albums i have bought . R& B mixed with dance classics for £18.99 rrp...
