Renowned as the King of the Delta blues singers, Robert Johnson died in 1938, poisoned by ... more
the husband of a woman with whom he'd flirted at a party. He was only 29 but his handful of recordings became the biggest influence in the whole of the blues field and spread out from there to affect people like Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones and many of the groups playing today. In his life Johnson made a total of 29 tracks and 24 of those are collected on this momentous album. When you hear these classics you'll realise that much of the later blues music that you've heard came from here, and the powerful and vivid lyrics of his songs were often the traditional blues from the Deep South. Influences on Johnson himself included his name-sake Lonnie Johnson for guitar playing and singers like Son House and Leroy Carr. But Johnson was his own man and you'll find many dazzling eccentricities, as in the slide guitar on "Come On In my Kitchen". Several of the tracks were hits in the Deep South, including the title track and the famous "Dust My Broom". --Steve Voce

Advantages: Loads of Phil Collins songs Disadvantages: Loads of Phil Collins songs messed up
An album of remixed Phil Collins tracks performed by r&b and hip hop artists. Risky, seeing as the man himself as churned out classic after classic and as you can imagine it wasnt well received by, well anyone.
I did however purchase because i like Phil Collins and i like hip hop & r&b so i took a chance. I should have spent my money on buying that indoor ten pin bowling set instead. Saying that there is a couple of decent tunes on here but as a whole, not the greatest ive spent my money on
Tracks
Another Day In Paradise - Ray J & Brandy. The single to come off this album was received quite well, not a bad video and the brother sister duet that everyone wanted to hear. An up to date version but not better than the original. You may find me saying that more often than not
Sussudio - Ol Dirty Bastard. Shocking. No resemblence ...
Advantages: Good rhythms to do the housework to, some excellent songs Disadvantages: Some songs will appeal to some and not to others.
Housework Songs is a double CD compilation album. The idea is that these songs are all suitable to listen to whilst doing the housework so easing the load and making the dutiful chores a little more enjoyable. On the front cover is a picture of a woman (rather sexist, men do the housework too! At least they do in my house!) singing into her vacuum cleaner. There are 41 songs on the album and there is a good mixture with something for everyone. We have songs from the 1960s including "Pretty Woman", and "Respect", in the 1970s we have "You Sexy Thing" and "American Pie", the 1980s gives us "Fame" and "I Think We're Alone Now", the 1990s gives us "Over My Shoulder"and "Moving on Up" then from the 2000s we have "Spinning Around" and "The Closest Thing To Crazy."
I love this album it has such a fantastic mix of songs, all of which I ...
Advantages: Robert Johnsons music is showcased by great musicians. Disadvantages: Not all Robert Johnsons songs were covered.
Texas, RobertJohnson made some of his final recordings in this Dallas warehouse .
Terraplane Blues, Hellhound On MyTrail, Me And The Devil Blues, From Four Till Late
Session 4 is Eric playing accoustic guitar and singing on his own in the Hotel Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica, California. These songs are:-
Ramblin' On My Mind, Stones In My Passway, Love In Vain.
The Dvd is a must for all Blues fans.
If comparing the two albums Eric Clapton has made paying homage to RobertJohnson.
I would rate "Sessions for Robert J" above "Me and Mr Johnson" the only difference between the albums being that Jerry Portnoy plays the Harmonica on the latter.
"Me and Mr Johnson" is worth buying too as the Harmonica of Jerry Portnoy brings an added dimension to this collection of songs.
I would recommend anybody who loves the Blues to buy ...
