Iv always been a fan of goldfinger and it had been a while since the release of a new album prior to this one being released. I had been looking forward to a new album as i really liked their new-ish material and thought that the band were getting better and better.
When this one came out I downloaded it straight away, I had already listened to a few songs they released on myspace before the release and enjoyed these so I was looking forward to the other material.
unfortunately I wasn't too impressed, there are only a few good songs on their and some that i just cant stand to listen to. A few of the good songs are really good, though it feels a little bit rushed and a bit like all the songs are of different kind of genres.
I put this down to the return of the guitarist who previously left the band as he liked metal music and not punk. He has seemed to have some influence in some of the songs and I feel has let the band down.
If you did like this bands earlier stuff then be prepared to be a little disappointed in this album. If you've not heard of them yet and are into punk/ pop punk, then i advise listening to their earlier albums like hang-ups and open your eyes.
i still have a lot of respect for goldfinger, their earlier material is still amazing every time I listen to it and it never get old, and their live shows have so much energy but I feel this album just doesn't live up to the expectations i previously had.
