How John Lennon's confessional song became the title for a silly James Bond spoof is still ... more
inexplicable. The funny thing is, it works both ways--as a young man's personal statement about learning to open up to others, and as the frantic theme for an exotic espionage chase comedy starring those loveable mop-tops (this time in COLOUR). Like A Hard Day's Night, only the first "side" of this album actually contains songs from the movie--the biggest hits being the eponymous cry for assistance and "Ticket to Ride". But part two has a few nice tunes as well, like "It's Only Love", "I've Just Seen a Face" and a little ditty called "Yesterday". And it's always fun when they do an all-out screamer like "Dizzy Miss Lizzy", which sounds like John's raucous answer to Paul's "Kansas City / Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey" vocal on Beatles for Sale. --Jim Emerson

Night', 'Help!' made its theatrical debut in 1965. The story follows The Beatles as they become passive recipients of an outside plot that revolves around Ringo's possession of a sacrificial ring, which he cannot remove from his finger. As a result, he and his bandmates, John, Paul and George are chased from London to the Austrian Alps and the Bahamas by religious cult members, a mad scientist and the London police. In addition to starring the Beatles, 'Help!' has a witty script, a great cast of British character actors and features 7 classic Beatles tracks.
Advantages: Lots of excellent songs Disadvantages: Some not so great songs, entire cd's less than 35 minutes

...why he was asking for help ( he also wasn't happy at all being that famous). It's a fast song with good second voices played by McCartney and Harrison, and in the middle of the song there's a nice bit without drums, only Lennon and a guitar. This song became one of the main parts of their live performances.

2. The Night Before
Main composer: McCartney, Singer: McCartney. Very 'pop' song with very 'pop' second voices. Just McCartney's ... ...included at the "Rock and Roll music" album.
Rate: 8/10
3. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away:
Main composer: Lennon, Singer: Lennon. Very acoustic and slow song. As Lennon said, he wrote this song in his Dylan days, and it's true that the song reminds Dylan's style. Lennon used to hide his emotions writting songs in his early days, and this is what he talks about, hiding emotions (like, as the tittle says, love). A nice one, with a nice acoustic ...

Advantages: Varied styles and some classic tracks Disadvantages: One or two songs not upto the standard of later albums, but it shows their progress well!
Help! was the second film made by The Beatles, the first one to be made in colour. Again, the band had to create a soundtrack with one side of the album dedicated to songs on the film and another featuring origianl songs not found there. The schedule was very tight, and the title track was written nearly overnight because the title was not decided on until late in the production. The first song on the album was the title track, "Help!" and John Lennon ... ...the only true songs I ever wrote", saying that they were "the ones I really wrote from experience and not projecting myself into a situation and writing a nice story about it". A few songs later The Beatles recorded only the second George Harrison song to appear on an album, "I Need You"which is an unspectacualr song but does contain a pleasant although hesitant selection bursts of guitar playing. A few more songs on is the classic "Ticket To Ride" ...

...artists, with, um, a little help from their (session) friends.
Paul McCartney's "Yesterday", which became the most frequently covered song in music history long before its belated release as a single in the UK in 1976, simply featured the writer backed by a string quartet, while "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away", by John Lennon in Dylan mode, was just him and a couple of flautists.
The rest featured the group, business as usual, on two No. 1 ... ...perhaps the first honest song he ever wrote and recorded - and its predecessor, "Ticket To Ride"; one of George Harrison's best songs to date, "I Need You", a vintage John rocker, "You're Going To Lose That Girl", and an often-overlooked goodie by Paul, "The Night Before".
Although this may not be one of their more groundbreaking albums, nobody will be disappointed with it. By the way, critics have often dismissed the movie itself as far inferior ...
