The two girls meet in post-war Britain in London, and though in character they are the very opposite on one another, they become friends. Ellie is a loving, kind, sweet natured brunette with a sparkling smile, while Bonny is a beautiful but spoilt blonde, who can be deceptive in many ways. Both were separated from their parents during the war as evacuees, and meet after the war has ended and set about making a life for themselves in the glamorous but ruthless life of the theatre. As their friendship continues, Ellie has to face lots of lies and deception from Bonny, but she always abides by Bonnie wishes, no matter how painful they are to herself.
