Here And Now - Chris While & Julie Matthews

Advantages: First time for mother and daughter to sing together on cd

...This album is a curio in the best sense of the word. Both Chris and Kellie While are famous for other collaborations; Chris' partnership with Julie Matthews and daughter Kellie for fronting the Albion Band (in succession to Chris and Julie), E2K, and most latterly as a promising singer/songwriter. This album doesn't represent the high water mark in either woman's career but it does afford the listener a chance to hear 'blood sing'. There is a symbiosis at work here and certain tracks such as Broken Things, Van Diemen's Land, Empty Hearts, and a song first aired on Kellie's debut album Tenacious, In My Room are compellingly effective. Aficionados of Chris and Kellie While will certainly want to add this album to their collection and it is a welcome reminder of their 2003 tour. Newcomers might be best advised to consider... Advantages: A couple of classic tracks
Disadvantages: Every song over-produced and most substandard self-parodies

...In the middle of the 1990s Oasis brought us two of the most outstanding albums in the history of popular music. Then they released 'Be Here Now'. Few bands have fallen from grace quite so quickly in terms of quality. This album was recorded with almost exactly the4 same line-up and back room staff employed in the making of the excellent '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?)'. It is longer, with more guitars, more stings, more production, but zit really is terrible in places. Most of the songs are unlistenable due to over-production by Owen Morris or just because they're bad songs in the first place. Oasis themselves now know the reasons why this album is so s**t. People heaping praise on them, the exotic lifestyle, not to mention the drugs. It was the ultimate Rock 'n' Roll excess that led to this LP. The government should play young... Read review

Advantages: everything, its amazing
Disadvantages: Johnny Depp on track 7

..." follows sounding a but like "step out", its just fun and your singing it for the rest of the day, and followed by "girl in the dirty shirt", you have got two cracking oaqsis songs lining you up for "fade in out". This is the only song on the album that doesn't really need to be there, you wouldn't notice if it was taken off, but its still worth giving a fair go, oh and the slide guitar is done by Johnny Depp. "Dont go away", AWESOME, some of the best work lyrically, that Noel has come out with, and a live favourite too. Simple song worked to great effect, with stunning lyrics and a rally catchy chorus that everyone will tell you to stop singing, and you didn't realise you had started. "be here now", the title track is great, the little riff is catchy and you will instantky be whistling it while you walk. "all around the world" we all know... Read review
