singer/songwriter developing further on the gentle melancholy of his previous efforts with the help of Death In Vegas' in co-production and Gil Norton (Pixies) and Dave Fridmann sharing mixing duties. "God Protect Your Soul" combines an anguished lament ("I need to build a wall around me") with bluesy harmonica and trumpets to create the kind of rambling lyrics and off-kilt melodies a piano-led Elliot Smith might make. "Beneath The Heart of Darkness" starts in a similar fashion but one third in and it slips off into a sound mash of guitars and radio interference, then drifts back again to its gentle lullaby. While "Apple of My Eye" starts promisingly, with its quiet proclamation--"I'm sick of this angst"--it quickly becomes clear that Ed certainly isn't. One for all those who appreciate their music full of understated despair. --Caroline Butler

Ed released Here Be Monsters, and this Album was very different and did tread where other artists would not have the minerals. Its as if he stuck his fingers up at the pop industry and told them he was doing it his way.
This album consists of 12 tracks, 9 of them explicitly enjoyable, the remainder seem to be more of a musical experiment. The total playtime is 56 minutes.
The music is somewhat different yet ... ...it in the same area as the current popular singer Norah Jones. Its is quite simply Ed's Lyrics being sang to melodic tunes, you can tell from listening that the he likes a steady beat from the drums, the drum sound is very crisp, not to mention the piano, which seems to just play unscrupulously. I like it, reminds myself of a modern male Tracy Chapman, where her guitar has been replaced with a piano and drum kit.
As much as i agree with previous review, i feel it time to review Ed Harcourts current performance.

The music is somewhat different yet does deserve a genre and i would have to place it in the same area as the current popular singer Norah Jones.
Ed then proceeded to release his second album From Every Sphere. Ed has continued in his celebrated style to make music HIS way. This album consists of 12 tracks, and has a play length on 56 minutes, just as the previous album.
My first opinion is the music sounds more crisp and clearer, as if his previous songs had been muffled.. His voice has matured a little and i sense he has had singing lessons.
We get to track three, Ghost Writer, and I began to think 'OH NO he's lost the plot', but this turns out to be one of his experimental songs.. He continues his album with his joyous melodies and lyrics, with a love for life sensitivity.
The album is not all good, some tracks do sound like they belong on the previous album, such as Undertaker Strut. The final four tracks are probably the best on the album, they are a delight to listen to, Watching The Sun Come Up, is a mixture of all his abilities. If you enjoyed any of his previous work you will certainly enjoy this track.
All in All, a nice little album. If your looking for a different sound then buy this, if you are happy with monotonous music which is readily available then do not buy this.
