But when I seen this was up for review I just had to, you see I was a dedicated fan of a1, travelled all round for them and in the end actually became quite matey with them!!
BACKGROUND - A1 was made up of 4 members Paul Marazzi who was originally from London but moved to Spain at an early age, Paul could play they errrr well nothing actually, Mark Read, from Surrey, Mark was very musically orientated he could play lots of different instruments including the piano, drums and keyboard, Christian Ingebritsten (hope I’ve spelt that correct) Christian is Norwegian and could play any instrument that you could think of, his dad was a very famous singer in Norway and last but not least Ben Adams, a former choir boy from Hampshire who was also very musically orientated – just a small fact and plug for Ben. Ben is actually now going solo and his single will be out in May!!! A1 first became known in November 1998 when they were up for the Best Newcomer at the Smash hits awards they performed two of the songs on this album “Hey you” and an acapella of “forever in love” at various venues across Scotland, England and Wales on the Smash Hits tour but unfortunately they lost out on the crown of best newcomer to a band called “Westside” who are now known as “Westlife”.
SONGS – This was a1s first Album which was released in late 1999 under Sony Music. It has 12 songs on it which in my opinion is a few songs too short of an album. They also released quite a few of the songs on this album as singles. Their first single ever and first single from the album is called “be the first to believe” at the time when it was released in July 1999 and reached number 6 in the charts. I loved this song as any fan would but listening to it now its very repeatative and if was to be released now I defiantly would not buy this. The second single from this album was released in August 1999 just in time for the proper summer and it was called “summertime of our lives” I have never actually been a fan of this song or the funny dance routine that came with it – I always thought that they didn’t need choregraphed routines as they were 4 very talented song writers and the dancing just made them look like another boyband!. Although they were obviously building up a fanbase as this song made it to number 5 in the charts. Their next single from this album was a double A side of Ready or not and Everytime. This was released just intime for xmas. Everytime is a lovely ballad which really shows off their singing abilities not like all the other songs that they have released so far…this song is also the best song on their album by far its about how they think of their ex girlfriend everytime they close their eyes or kiss someone else it’s a really nice song. The other song is a very upbeat song which is a lot of fun and you could imagine yourself dancing to in a club while really drunk!! The last song that was released from this album was a valentines song called “like a rose” it was released on Valentines day of 2000 and a1 done lots of signing all over England for this song. This song is a typical boyband song about LOVE!! I really like this song it has a lot of meaning although the video for this song really put me off the song and made me dislike it a bit at the time….a video full of clouds and men with cloudy suits and sitting in baths of roses just doesn’t do it for me!!!! Other songs on this album include If only, Walking in the Rain (which is another really cool song and its actually quite sad if you listen to the words), Still around, I still believe and heaven by your side.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST I would say just short of an hour – after all there is only 12 songs.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST – Remembering I bought this in 2000 I think I paid around £10 for this but you will get in some bargain bin now probably or not get it all in most shops.
COVER – Quite simple and boybandish – just a picture of the 4 guys looking cute!
WHO WROTE THE SONGS – They guys all had inputs to all the songs on this album which for a first boyband album is quite something I think.
INSIDE PAGES - The inside pages have words to all the songs so you can all sing along.
MY OPINION – In my opinion this a true cheesy boyband album with a couple of really nice sweet songs, but they certainly were a boyband with a difference they could sing and wrote all their own stuff.
Advantages: Nearly all tracks are great pop songs Disadvantages: Might be difficult to purchase now
This album was A1's debut effort and what a collection of tunes it is! It was released in November 1999. I paid £7.99 for the cassette. Most of the album was written by A1 along with writers such as Peter Cunnah and Carolynne Good. The vocals are more or less shared equally between Ben, Paul, Christian and Mark.
The tracks are as follows.
1) Forever In Love
2) Be The First To Believe
3) Summertime Of Our Lives
4) Ready Or Not
5) Everytime
... ...9) Walking In The Rain
10) Still Around
11) I Still Believe
12) Heaven By Your Side
The first track, "Forever In Love" is a nice accapella love song. Paul sounds very like Peter Andre at times!
The next track is "Be The First To Believe" and this was their first hit single. It's a great pop tune and is very "in your face".
"Summertime Of Our Lives" was a perfect hit for the hot weather. "Hey girl, the feeling is right, to to get out in the ...

Advantages: Great, catchy tunes! Disadvantages: Not enough new songs!
I have loved A1 since they were about to release "Hey You" which was about December '98. I have seen them several times in concert, even although i haven't actually been lucky enough to meet them.
I bought this album on day of release, and although it's not the best album i've ever listened to, it's certainly not the worst either. All the 12 songs are catchy, and basically great to listen to. The only problem is, anyone who has loved A1 for as long ... ...so there's not much excitement when listening to the new songs to see which ones your fave, as you're not left with much to choose from. Apart from that though, it's still a great album and i would still reccommend it. At lreast there isn't any covers on it, not that that's necessarilly a bad thing. ...

Advantages: Pop at it's finest Disadvantages: A little cheesy
Here We Come is the first album by Mr's Adams, Read, Ingebrigtsen and Marazzi, and before even giving it a listen, many will have brushed it off as purile pop, simply because a1 are 'just another boyband'. Well, I'm sorry, but those people don't know what they're missing out on.
Despite their boyband label, a1 are as far away from today's stereotype boyband image as a band can be. These guys write their own music, and play their own instruments ... ...existing a1 fans, as well as, perhaps, for fans of other more steroetypical boy band groups. However, if the idea of fantastic pop, mixed in with liberal doses of cheese isn't one that appeals to you, then stay well clear.
Let's hope the a1 boys are here to stay! ...

Advantages: Brilliantly written songs Disadvantages: Sometimes too poppy
The album begins with 'FOREVER IN LOVE'. This is a good song to start with. It is sung a capella (unaccompanied) and shows the lad's musical skills and harmonic ability. It is a brilliant ballad which will affect the emotions of many.
Next is 'BE THE FIRST TO BELIEVE'. I was not too keen on this song because I think it falls in the cheesy pop category.
'SUMMERTIME OF OUR LIVES' is only good for listening to in the summer or at a school disco.
... ...and would probably cheer up many people.
'EVERYTIME' is a good weepie song. The lyrics are superb. 'IF ONLY' is about a guy who is regretfully dumping his girlfriend, but it is very inconsistent because although the lyrics are sad, the music sounds energetic and happy.
'HEY YOU' is a bit too catchy and once you've herad it you'll be singing it all week.
'LIKE A ROSE' is also a weepie song and I'm glad it was put on the ablum because Ben wrote ...

Advantages: they sing solos, it's a fun album! Disadvantages: some of their album tracks aren't very strong
I'll never forget the moment I became an a1 fan: I always watched CD:UK and they came on singing Take On Me and BAM! I then discovered that all of my friends liked them too and we spent a cool couple of years going to their concerts and going to their record signings and having the best time. I was 13, and I'm 19 now and still love them. I still like their music, but I think what makes me still like them today is the fact that I associate lots of ... ...at the same time it's fun. This album will mostly appeal to a very young audience, or anyone who was a fan of a1 when they were around! The album mostly consists of upbeat pop songs with a good amount of ballads to go along with it.

This album Contains 2 number 1 songs and a top 5 song. There are some killer tracks on this album which, include, Take on me,Same old brand new you and also scared. The songs on the album include:-

Advantages: Even better than their first album Disadvantages: Solos from Ben and Chris, but none from Paul and Mark :(
This is the second album released by the a1 boys, and, although many fans wouldn't have believed it possible, it's even better than HereWeCome. This time, the mixture of up-beat pop, and smoochy ballads is even more smooth, and this is definitely a must have for all fans.
Alot of people will have listened to 'Take On Me' and, even if they hadn't thought of them that way before, will have labelled them as an average boyband, the sort that have to cover old hits to do well in the charts. Admittedly, Take On Me, which features prominantly on the album, was a cover, and it was a1's first number one. But it was a good cover. Even A-Ha, the band that originally released the song, agreed on that. And when immediately followed up by 'Same Old Brand New You' their second number one, and 'No More' which should have got alot higher than their ...
HERE WE COME is the debut from U.K. boy band respected for writing their own songs, which range from ballads to disco numbers, notably "Be the First to Believe."
