Advantages: its got potential , a few strong points , great drumming Disadvantages: Messy , repetitive , no signature sound
So I read the first review on this album and I have to say I disagree with most of the points he made about this album. This is the debut album from Divine Heresy with Dino Cazares (ex factory) and Tim Yeung of vital remains.
Ill start by saying with the line-up they have this album could have been awesome.
Unfortunately nothing really gels well here, which is a damn shame. You have a very talented guitarist and extremely fast drummer and a good vocalist here so I wonder why they could not write a single really good and outstanding track on this album. This band just has far too much creativity, and is trying to do too much at once. You have vocals similar to Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage, an extreme death metal drummer and a guitarist from an ex industrial themed metal band. for confirmation by the prisoner & then back again for the formal & final record?but if it has lost anything in translation it doesn't show. What we have, what is so precious, is that these are the peasants themselves talking. Ordinary everyday folk talking about ordinary everyday things.
Of course we can't quite get away from the why of it. What was so special about Montaillou that the Inquisition should spend so much time upon it? (Or was it really so special?it could be just that other Inquisitors were less meticulous and records of this heresy up and down the land have been lost.)
