Advantages: usual quality guitars and drums Disadvantages: lyrics, vocals and cohesion lacking
Being a long time fan of not only this genre, but of Morbid Angel, whom I have felt to be the best in the business for many years and really, the mother of death metal.
If you know anything about morbid angel, they do them alphbetically, so obviously we are up to 'H' which means it is their 8th album.
This is also the 3rd album with Steve Tucker playing bass and singing.
I really hate to say this, but ... ...been a steady decline in the quality. It just appears to lack something both lyrically and presence.
Those are the negatives, on the positives, it is still a good album and if you liked 'Gateways', then you will love this.
Trey is brilliant as usual coming up with graceful melodies that flow magnificently and abstract ripping guitar leads and riffs that reinforces why he is one of the best.

I really hate to say this, but since David Vincent left and Steve tucker started there has been a steady decline in the quality. It just appears to lack something both lyrically and presence.

Pete sandoval on drums, what can i say, the guy is a tool! I don't mean that he is an idiot or anything, but more that he is what he is, and he is one of the best and pioneered this style of drumming, which he performs floorlessly, with precision timing and brutal blast beats and some of the best fills you will ever hear. But he is a machine, a tool, he is given the music and he simply adds his craft to it, there doesn't seem to be any real 'Pete' in the songs! Having said that, and this is probably the best part of the album is the 'Drum Check'. Pete finally gets to shine on his own and really display his artistry, the man is a legend and death metal would be in a very different place withpout his influence.
Overall... A must have for Morbid Angel fans, not a good place to start if you are new to this genre, there are better Morbid Angel albums, I would start with Covenant
