Advantages: Something for everyone. Disadvantages: Can depend on your musical taste
This is a very good CD from a very accomplished gospel artist in KirkFranklin. There are some very good praise and worship ballads on this cd, which are sung from the heart, which makes it all the more special! I saw KirkFranklin when he came to the Royal Albert Hall, London in 2002. It was a wonderful concert experience!
I will review each of the tracks on this cd.
1) Intro - This takes the form of a prayer from KirkFranklin's grandmother praying that Kirk would be a mighty man of God, and Kirk completing the prayer in a scene years later. Quite an interesting introduction.
2) Hosanna - The introduction starts off with Kirk talking and preparing folks for the song ahead, then launches into a praise song done by female voices initially, with the male voices coming in later. The voice mixture is wonderful particularly when ...
't like the garish colours and there is nothing to make you think you are looking at a Christian album, but maybe I am just old! I love that the lyrics are all included but sadly some are a little hard to read because of the background graphics and colours. One thing that really stands out though is the Bible verse references that are included under each song title - so if you opened up the booklet not realising it was a Christian album, you would soon realise! It is great to be able to reach for the Bible and read the verses as you listen to the song, making it a much more complete experience of praising God through music.
From the first seconds of the opening track "Interlude" I was hooked, what a GREAT way to start an album! The album is almost a story, the opening being a court "scene" with KirkFranklin standing trial accused ...
Advantages: Excellent couragious stories, raising awareness of the charity Disadvantages: May be hard reading for some
?Today the word ?hero? is too often used; for me it is a very special word and should be used sparingly: a hero is someone distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility and fortitude. This wonderful book by Gill Shaw is to raise funds for just such men and women injured in the line of duty whilst serving our country - REAL heroes? Ross Kemp, Patron of Help for Heroes.
This book came to my attention when I was looking on the Help For Heroes charity website in their shop. I am a supporter of the charity as my husband is a soldier and so too are my brother and his wife. For me it is a wonderful charity which is dong so much for our injured soldiers and personally I think it is the only way people are finding out the true extent as to what some men and woman are going through to fight for this country.
The book is a paperback ...
Personnel: Kirk Franklin (vocals, rap vocals, keyboards); Dorinda Clark-Cole, J Moss, African Children's Choir, Stevie Wonder, Tye Tribbett (vocals); Doc Powell, Todd Parsnow (guitars); Matt Butler (cello); Paulie Cerra (saxophone); Dave Monsch (baritone saxophone); Lee Thornburg, Jamie Hovorka (trumpet); Humberto Ruiz (trombone); Shaun Martin (keyboards, drums); Jerome Harmon (keyboards); Braylon Lacy (electric bass); Terri Baker (drums); Andre Harris, Sheila E., Vidal Davis (percussion). Though testimonies of faith and questions of morality are still at the heart of Kirk Franklin's message, 2005's HERO represents something of a musical departure for the gospel superstar. Recorded with a full orchestra--complete with lush strings and driving horns--HERO is one of Franklin's most musically ambitious outings. Featuring guest appearances by Stevie Wonder ("Why"), Dorinda Clark-Cole ("Hero"), and Yolanda Adams ("Afterwhile"), not to mention a song that utilizes a Tears for Fears sample ( "Let It Go"), the album offers plenty of variety, and a few surprises, in addition to its large-scale arrangements. Franklin manages to integrate these new elements perfectly into the celebratory and healing music on which he's built his career.
