Advantages: Easy listening Disadvantages: Very much how you'd imagine Country Music to sound
...I stumbled across this in a new and used music shop and bought it just for the hell of it as I had heard some of this guys music before and liked what I'd heard.
Before I get on to what I like about this album, let me tell you about the artist himself.
RandyTravis was born 4th May 1959. In 1981 he moved to Nashville and began writing songs and getting to know the Country Music scene. In 1985 RandyTravis signed a contract with Warner Brother records and thus began his long and upstanding career; as well as being an accomplished artist he has also turned his hand at acting and appeared in the likes of Matlock, Touched By An Angel and Fire Down Below, to name but a few.

Advantages: You might enjoy it Disadvantages: Ok then buy that Steve Brookstein single!
...is overtaken by the train as the main form of transport
13.Davy the fat boy
Tells of how a fat boys parents leave him in the good hands of his friend after they pass on.
He promptly puts him in a Circus!
Funny and sad at the same time and again probably non-PC now.
14.Lonely at the top
A tongue in cheek song to end with as Randy takes the mickey out of himself and his approach to fame.
Overall a great album if you are a fan and a good starting point if you are not.
Randy has also has had some success writing Film Scores (Toy Story, Maverick, Monsters Inc, The Three Amigos) to name but a few.
He cracked me up at the Academy Awards when on finally winning at the 9th time of being nominated, for the song "If I didn't have you" from Monsters Inc, he started his speech with..
"I want to thank first of all the music branch...

Advantages: Good songs, good band ,indie from a new angle. Disadvantages: None much, can be predictable at times.
...of this album share the same themes as Wendor’s film: lost souls searching for their identity in world in which they feel uninvited. “Driftwood” speaks of watching a close friend slowly disintegrate on their aimless journey through life with no more help than tying up the story to its natural conclusion on “She’s So Strange”. "As You Are" is an anthem for escape. “The Fear” and “The Last of the Laughter” has summer turning to autumn and blue skies turning grey respectively over a blanket of folk-rock. It is like Buddy Holly and Eugene O’Neil crying into their drinks in the basement of a folk club on a wet Wednesday afternoon.
Before Travis it was Glass Onion, an awful name for a rock band but it does lend us a clue to Fran’s pop sensibilities. Slide Show attempts to do for post Brit-Pop culture what Lennon did to the sixties on that song from...
